This hostel is dirty, dingy and noisy. I cringed every time I had to use the bathroom. The decor and furniture was in a time warp, back to the 1950s. The bed spreads were stained.
When it rained the guttering dripped making it impossible to sleep. I couldn't wait to leave this place. I chose it according to location and price. It was cheap but for a good reason. I got what I paid for, serves me right.
It is student accommodation.
The owner is friendly but thrifty, she tries to get you to write good reviews about her horrible place.
It is within walking distance to the historic centre if you don't mind a 20 minute walk. I didn't. There is useful parking in the centre by the promenade, it costs a reasonable £1 per hour. You can usually find parking out of season but it will be difficult in the summer as it is limited in size.
The historic centre is the only place to visit in Split and you only need stay 6/7 hours for shopping, tour guide and eating. There is a good selection of restaurants but I can't say if they are good or not; I tried one on the Island of Ciovo opposite Trogir and it was awful.
You can visit the islands of Hvar and Brac from Split by taking the available ferries. The ferries are quite cheap but taking cars is expensive but DO TAKE a car if you want to get the most out of the trip there.
