“Best in a town of amazing beauties”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

Huge city, but a small Nr. 1 hotel. The Aurora is owned by the same group as other luxury hotels in the country (Oreanda in Yalta, Otrada in Odessa, Premier palace in Kiev). It is small and cozy, but lacks the grandezza of a typical Nr. 1 in town. Nice little lobby bar. Service was good. Location is not ideal (e.g. too far away from Nr. 1 club/restaurant Palladium). The girls in Kharkiv are of an amazing beauty.

“Great service and very nice rooms--highly recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

I stayed here twice during a recent trip to Ukraine. The hotel's rooms and furnishings were all new and clean, rooms were cool and quiet and the staff could not have been more helpful and accomodating. The location is great--just 4 blocks from Shevchenko Park. The hotel went far beyond the service I usually receive, both in providing a free upgrade, but also in informing me how to book my rooms online and receive the best price.

I highly recommend Aurora Hotel and really don't have any criticism to offer.

“My second home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2011

Aurora Hotel has the last 6 months become my second home with around 25 nights and more to come. Of course there is a reason why one choose to come back to the same hotel. Aurora is in my opinion the best Hotel in the city of Kharkiv. The service is absolutely exellent, the rooms are big and nice, the fitness room has what I need, location is good and close to the center of the city. The Hotel restaurant is good offering both ukrainian specialities and international dishes. The staff now recognise me the second I enter the door welcomming me by name.
I can only recommend this hotel.

“Still not perfect, still the best in Kharkov”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 March 2011

I previously reviewed this hotel about 18 months ago (under my old, login-now-forgotten tripadvisor i.d.) and thought I would re-review it after 8 stays there.

It remans the best hotel in Kharkiv by quite a margin, however the negatives remain largely unaltered, too.

Rooms are oddly decorated, but the limited amenities function well enough and the free internet is slow but fairly reliable. Bathrooms are modern and the water supply good, although shower temperatures are inclined to vary wildly during ones ablutions!

Staff remain professional and most reception crew speak acceptable English. Do not expect sincere smiles or even basic greetings, farewells, however. This is Ukraine, as such niceties are not dispensed freely.

The brasserie bar is comfortable and food pleasant, however the TVs are far too loud and seemingly installed solely to keep the staff entertained. The bar is also incredibly smoky, but this is all to true of everywhere in Kharkiv.

With the Euro 2010 soccer championships coming, other hotels are opening and Aurora will need to try harder is it is to keep my custom. Nevertheless, currently it is my (and your) best option. And on that basis, I recommend it to you. For now.
