I previously reviewed this hotel about 18 months ago (under my old, login-now-forgotten tripadvisor i.d.) and thought I would re-review it after 8 stays there.
It remans the best hotel in Kharkiv by quite a margin, however the negatives remain largely unaltered, too.
Rooms are oddly decorated, but the limited amenities function well enough and the free internet is slow but fairly reliable. Bathrooms are modern and the water supply good, although shower temperatures are inclined to vary wildly during ones ablutions!
Staff remain professional and most reception crew speak acceptable English. Do not expect sincere smiles or even basic greetings, farewells, however. This is Ukraine, as such niceties are not dispensed freely.
The brasserie bar is comfortable and food pleasant, however the TVs are far too loud and seemingly installed solely to keep the staff entertained. The bar is also incredibly smoky, but this is all to true of everywhere in Kharkiv.
With the Euro 2010 soccer championships coming, other hotels are opening and Aurora will need to try harder is it is to keep my custom. Nevertheless, currently it is my (and your) best option. And on that basis, I recommend it to you. For now.
