“Kharkiv Hotel. Slightly bizarre.”
I have stayed at 2 hotels in Kharkiv. This one and the ChiChiKov. Comparing between each hotel, I would recommend the ChiChiKov. Not that the Kharkiv is bad. But they haven't upgraded to true international standards and still have many old Soviet styles. reception is Russian speaking only. No one spoke English. maybe they can, but they didn't. I stayed in a Business Class room that featured a really weird bizarre color, a fax machine from the 1990's, a VCR machine and a mini-fridge with nothing inside. The airconditioning works, but leave it on when you leave so it can catch up.Getting to the room meant walking down a hallway that in the middle had 3 stairs. So, beware of that. We didn't eat at any restaurants, but they are bright. Very bright. The good thing is that the hotel is 50m from the main square and there are many really good restaurants within 10-15 minutes walk. If you have the choice, check for availability at the Chichikov 1st.
