“Charming Find in a Charming City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2011

We enjoyed 4 perfect days at Casa Encantada, a wonderfully romantic and charming base for exploring Antigua.

The only downside is it is a little further from the center of town that I personally would have liked, but that was balanced by being in a very nice residential neighborhood. There was also a lot of bus traffic on the road which was slightly annoying during breakfast hours, at the small lounge on the roof. (But no evening or night traffic to bother the sleep.)

Everyone in my family completely enjoyed their stay at Casa Encantada. Not one complaint, and very happy teenagers is high praise. The staff was friendly and accommmodating in every way - at the hotel, and with directions, reservations for tours and restaurants. The hotel is convenient to to town of Antigua, and the breakfasts and afternoon snacks/bar was fresh and first rate.

“A great get-away spot with an extremely helpful staff”

We stayed at the Casa Encantada for 9 nights during our Christmas vacation to Guatemala. We used Antiqua for a home port to travel to other locations. The hotel is charming and a short walk to the Central Park. The rooms are small but adequate. It was quite cool during our stay and no heat in the hotel. Breakfast is served on a charming roof top terrace with a fantastic view of the valcano. It is quiet and serene and the breakfasts were terrific. If you are an early riser, take a jacket to breakfast as it can be cool without the sun. The staff is terrific and helpful. They are warm and eager to make your stay pleasant. Most speak english and spanish. Even though there is no restaurant, there is a small bar on the terrace where you can have a drink, snack or sandwiches from a small menu. It is a short walk to the center of town but there are also several restaurants close by that are good. Don't miss the Meson Pansa Verde - excellent! Just around the corner. We would stay again. Our room was in the rear reached by stepping stones over a large fish pond. A little difficult but enjoyed the sound of the waterfall at night. If you can afford the suite on the roof top, I would opt for that room. Do not stay in the room in the front of the hotel as the buses stop at the corner and can be noisy. Over all, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

“What a Delightful, Enchanting and Lovely Place to Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2010

I stayed here for 3 nights and LOVED it. To get to my charming room, I walked across huge stone steps immersed in water and plants. It was simply beautiful and inviting. The mattress and feather beds and pillows, along with the sound of the small man-made waterfall, provided me with a restful night sleep. Breakfast on the roof overlooking the Volcano was a treat.

The only drawback of my experience: I wore crocs in the shower and when I stepped down into the shower, my feet slipped out from under me, my feet hit the wall, while at the same time my head and back hit the toilet and tiled step. Seriously. For a few seconds, I didn't know if I could walk.

It is several blocks from the center of town but walkable.

I highly recommend this charming place. Just don't wear crocs in the shower.

“What a great introduction to Guatemala”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2010

I "bought" my trip at a non-profit auction. The 4 nights stay at Casa Encantada was intriguing as it is run by the Lancaster Group who also runs a fantastic spot in Belize called Victoria House. Knowing that they would only own or represent quality properties, I bought the trip.

We were greeted at the airport by Gustavo who ended up being our driver whenever an excursion took us out of town. The hotel staff were excellent and were likely the most friendly that I have encountered. The bartender, Juan Carlos, serves drinks on the rooftop terrace looking out to the volcano.

We stayed in teh rooftop suite, which I would reccomend to anyone.

Breakfast was great, the town was fantastic, food in town fantastic, golf extraordinary and the trip exceeded my expectations threefold.

A GREAT PLACE AND I WILL BE BACK....A LOT!
