I took a team of 16 to Guatemala to work at Casa Angelina, an orphanage about 30 minutes from Antigua. We stayed at Posada Asjemenou for a whole week. We booked 8 rooms total at a cost of $35/night. I think you could say, "you get what you pay for." No one in our group had any bed bug bites. We did see ants, but they never bothered us. The lighting is low, but it's low everywhere we went in Antigua. We met the owner and enjoyed our visit with him one evening. He never talked the place up too much and simply stated that it was a fair price for the condition of the place. The rooms in the front part are nicer, that much we found out. Breakfast was included in the cost of the room, and it was good. The location is excellent. One major negative is that bell that rings often and even through the night. Asjemenou wouldn't be my first choice when I return to work at Casa Angelina, but if it's all that is available, I wouldn't mind staying their again. We usually stay at the de don Rodrigo, which is as good as it gets. It's not as bad as some of the comments left make it sound. I have 15 other people to back me up on that. However, they all agree, they rather stay at the de don Rodrigo the next time if it's available (or Villa Antigua, another place one of our teams stayed last year).
