Normally I start reviews, deciding whether to put the good first or the bad first. At this place, there is almost only good.
Grounds are wonderful, with wonderful gardens full of flowers - as well as a pool tucked away. Staff are very helpful, speak fluent English and will do whatever they can to help.
Rooms though are the best bit - because of the high ceiling, they feel enormous, but the most wonderful part, is the log fire (they supply a pile of wood for you). If you're not confident with lighting a fire, just phone reception, and they'll start it going for you.
It should be noted that the hotel is about a 15 min walk from the centre of town, but taxis in Antigua are cheap - a couple of dollars will get you into the main square.
Breakfast is pretty good (it's a morning meal, not intended for you to stuff your belly so full that you can't face food for another 12 hours). There's an all day kitchen which also serves meals and will bring to your room if you want.
Overall, the highlight hotel of this trip
