“worth the walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We've stayed at the Quinta every year for 3 years and each time think we'll try somewhere else but never do. It's a good walk to get to anywhere but if that's an issue you can flag down a tuk tuk and for 10Q they'll take you most anywhere. The Quinta grounds are exquisite and the staff delightful and courteous and good at their jobs. We always stay in the garden rooms for their privacy and complete quiet. Quinta is at the top end in pricing for their category and with trade falling off for this industry we'd like to see them include breakfast in their rates. Perhaps they would consider throwing in coffee & tea and a basket of banana bread if they want to compete more aggressively for market share. The restaurant is quite good if you want to stay in. Our favourite is the chicken soup which comes loaded with veggies and fresh avocado. The only complaint we heard was about the chips they are using - they are an over-flavoured commercial style nacho chip, not the fresh home fried tortilla chips one comes to expect in this part of the world. Pretty minor though. Prices are mid range for the food. Carlos at the front desk afternoons & evenings is a gem, He will make any arrangements for you that you require with grace and elegance. He always astounded us with his cultured courteousness. He arranged for our message therapist to come to our room ($40/hour) and she was the real deal and attended to us one after the other - this was just what we needed after several long days of volunteering in the hospital. Carmen, on the desk during the day, and in charge of reservations, was our advocate in trying to get a rate reduction for the night we were a no-show due to Areomexico running so far behind we didn't make our connection out of Mex City to Guatemala City. She approached the owner on our behalf and we were given a 50% reduction which we greatly appreciated and applied to our food & bar bill. If there is anything that could be approved upon I'd can only think of two things; the internet and an alarm clock in the room. The internet is slow as molasses, drops the connection frequently, and is not accessible from the rooms. There are no clocks in the rooms so we needed to rely on a daily wake-up call. Given the types of travellers who stay in their Inn it would be very appreciated and noted if they could upgrade these 2 services. But as always, we will return again next year for our annual 2 week visit to Antigua and will stay at the Quinta with excited anticipation.

Room Tip: Room #14 is the furthest away and the most quiet and private.

“A Beautiful & Relaxing Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Have stayed at Quinta twice now, most recently January 2012 for 3 nights. There are so many wonderful, beautiful hotels in Antigua but Quinta is my favorite for it's beautiful grounds, friendly and helpful staff, good food, and nice rooms.

I have stayed both times in the garden rooms which are spacious and comfortable. Beds are a bit harder than I prefer, but not objectionable. My only other small quibble is that I think the bathroom could use a oat of paint and perhaps a new toilet. The room was very clean though - no doubt about it. The garden rooms have a nice fire place which I haven't yet used or needed, and have a lovely covered outside private terrace - great for unwinding and reading after a day hiking or exploring the town.

The staff are very pleasant and helpful in arranging transport. They also graciously allowed us to leave some of our luggage at the hotel secure prior to our reservation as we travelled to Flores/Tikal for 2 nights and did not want to drag all our trip luggage on THAT excursion. Everyone from the front desk staff, the servers in the dining area, front gate attendant, and gardeners are always offering a smile.

The breakfasts and lunch are reasonable and quite delicious. Have not done the dinner. The room rates are reasonable - 95.00/night for the garden rooms - within the upper limits of mid-range hotels for Antigua.

As so many have said, what really makes this place stand head and shoulders above so many other Antigua hotels is the grounds. This is a very large, sprawling piece of property, with extremely well-tended gardens, and surrounding woods. Great views of Volcanos Agua, Actenango, and Fuego from all over the property and wonderful places all over to relax and soak in the sun or shade. A pretty ( but a trifle cold when we were there in January ) pool too. Love sitting relaxing in the morning or afternoon with a cool drink or coffee, a book, listening to the amazing birdsong always active on the grounds. If I was a bird, I would hang out here too.

This is not a 5 star hotel but it comes very close and exceeds most 5 stars in many regards. It's one disadvantage that so many remark on - its distance from Parque Central and the main action - is also a plus. It is substantially quieter here at night. In reality though, it is a very pleasant 15 -25 minute stroll to the park. At night, a tuktuk or taxi can be had. I prefer to walk myself and as a man, never felt unsafe or intimidated.

No doubt I would and will return here in a heartbeat. Highest recommendation.

Room Tip: I've only stayed in the garden rooms and would always book either those or the small casitas - w...

“A perfect stay”

I stayed at Quinta de las Flores for two nights in January. Everything was wonderful. The grounds were so beautiful, we had a hard time leaving them to explore Antigua itself. We rented a casita, as we are a family of four, and enjoyed having so much space, plus a working kitchen, where we were able to heat up left overs from our restaurant meals for lunch the next day. Every one of the staff was friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The hotel is a bit away from the center of town, but can be walked easily. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Truly relaxing”

I must say that I had no idea how much I would like this hotel.
The location is perfect, as it is close enough to the center of town, but far enough so that all the sound from people, cars, bars and restaurant don´t bother you.
The pool area is very relaxing, it the most beautiful garden and a wonderful view of the volcanoes. It almost feel as a Spa.
The food is good, the people are more than nice.
Overall it was a fantastic experience.

“A tranquil hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We spent three nights in a garden view room. There was a fireplace in the room, so we enjoyed it every night. The room was spacy, with a little sitting area outside. The garden in the hotel was very cute and huge and decorated with Guatemalan crafts. It was fun enough to get lost in and explore, too. Every night workers lit up candles, giving the grounds a very romantic feel. The hotel might be a little far from the central of Antigua, but still it was easily walkable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious.

Room Tip: Choose a garden view room or a villa!
