“Beautiful place to stay and receive excellent service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I have stayed here before and recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Antigua. You enjoy your breakfast on the rooftop terraza with a view of El Vulcan de Agua. It is truly stunning and located very close to central park. The rooms are spotless and comfortable; the place is brimming with character and the staff are so friendly and helpful and they remembered me from my last visit!

“Such a wonderful place and people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

The time spend in Antiqua Guatemala is enhanced so much by experiencing this wonderful hotel. The warmth of the people makes you feel like family. The hotel is so beautiful and the charm of the rooftop patio is a treat. Do yourself a favor stay here at hotel D'Leyenda next trip to the beautiful county of Guatemala.

“D´Leyenda Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

My wife and I stayed in this lovely hotel for one night.
The Hotel is very nice and cosy. I agree with the other good reviews in trip advisor.
The location of the Hotel is excellent, right in the center of the town. The rooms are little.

“Not blown away”

When I read the reviews of this hotel I thought it would be outstanding, so I gave it a try. But to be honest, it was average at best. The good things are that the service/staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful; the location is fantastic; and the beds are generally really comfortable. Internet was included and worked well. Breakfast also included but I never had time to take advantage of it. Average: bathroom had hot water, but not so much in the morning, then it was only warm, not hot, and I was up early so I doubt the supply was already depleated. Bathmats in the bathroom also looked a bit grubby like it hadn't been washed between guests, and one night I encountered a very small but deadly looking black spider in the bathroom. Single room was dark generally and not large, and despite very nice firm mattress, the measly two pillows were saggy and lumpy. Front gate is locked day and night -always someone to open it for you and security is appreciated but it's a bit inconvenient. Perhaps they could issue Prox cards that guests could swipe to open the gate themselves. But the really negative side was that I found it to be very noisy. Not just with the location because it's next to a busy bar and you can hear the activity clearly (then again that's a trade off with the location), but you can hear the other guests also, and not just a little bit. Perhaps it was the days I was there but there seemed to have been a family with multiple rooms booked that very hollering back and forth to one another as if it was their own home, from very early in the morning. Not the hotel's fault, but they should have asked them to keep it down as they were also attending to them for breakfast (that interaction was quite loud also). Not so much a problem as I was up early anyway. Another big issue, noticably mostly at night for some reason, there was an intermittent but obvious urine smell that seemed to be seeping from through the wall. It actually smelled like someone had peed repeatedly in the room on the floor or something. Another huge issue-parking is a full 7 blocks away, and it's difficult to find a nearby street spot even for loading/unloading luggage. Overall I'd say it's ok, especially since you aren't paying top dollar. But I don't really agree with it's number two rating on T.A., with the plethora of hotels in Antigua I'm sure there are others that have comparable advantages and provide a less noisy, smelly night of sleep. Probably wouldn't stay here again to be honest.

Dear Guest:
We read the review that you kindly wrote on TripAdvisor about your stay at D'Leyenda Hotel. It was an honor for us to have you as our guest and we appreciate your comments because it help us to improve our service.
It is good to know that the hotel staff provide the personal attention you deserve.
We are surprise about the strange odors that you felt in the room, as all our guests are honorable people like you, who know how to use the services for which they were intended (physiological needs) and we do not use any wall with this purpose.
It is gratifying that the bed in your room was comfortable. The pillows are periodically renewed so that our guests have a pleasant rest.
Regarding the comment about the main entrance to the hotel, you are right. Our receptionists open and close the door to every guest that enters or exits the Hotel. This is to ensure the privacy and security of all. That way we prevent people outside the Hotel interrupt your peace of mind.
Finally, La Antigua Guatemala as a colonial town is a small, with no spaces for parking, however the arrival of our guests are always assisted by our receptionists to carry their luggage from the entrance.
D'Leyenda Hotel is located in the heart of the city, 20 meters from Central Park, making it a privileged location for those who enjoy walking and visit the main museums, churches, plazas, fountains, etc..
Your comments encourage us to move forward and allow us to maintain standards of quality and service that have characterized us.
We hope to serve you again and make your stay with us a legend, as it has been for most of our guests.
Sincerely,
Management

“Still outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

This was our third time at D'Leyenda Hotel, which speaks volumes for the hotel. It's location is absolutely perfect, being right off the main square, and therefore, you have the choice of many excellent, and very reasonable, restaurants within a few minutes walk. (Do give Hector's a try - it is outstanding!) And yet, it is still very quiet. Security is excellent, with the front iron doors being locked at all times. The beds and pillows are incredibly comfortable. Airport transfers are only $35 with a trustworthy driver. They also can arrange transfers to Lake Atitlan, etc. The staff and owner, Carmen, are outstanding. One feels like one is coming home. We had a guest come to visit us, and all of us were immediately offered coffee by the staff, and the guest commented on how welcoming the staff are. In short, the hotel has a lovely intimate, relaxing feel to it, and is a great place to spend a few days while enjoying all the things Antigua has to offer.

Room Tip: If you are traveling as a couple and want a king bed and bedside table lamps, chose La Tatuana (we b...
