“Great Winter Escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We had a weekend package for two nights, one breakfast and one dinner for each of us for a total cost of around $300. The dinner that came with the package was a three course at Aerie restaurant which is top notch. For the money it was a great deal. It was an "off" weekend so the price was cheaper than what you'll get on a peak weekend. It's a great winter weekend. Rooms are very nice, beds comfortable and lots of room. There is a full workout facility with many cardio machines and weight room (these are legit workout facilities). Large pool and tennis courts indoors as well. Be aware there is a $14.50 charge per day (not per person) resort fee so be sure to factor that in to your price quote since it wasn't clear when I was originally booking my room. For those who like to gamble the hotel has a shuttle bus that goes to Turtle Creek which is about a five minute trip. Even if you don't go to Aerie restaurant to eat at least ride up to the 16th floor for a drink at the bar and enjoy the view. No complaints at all; from check-in to check-out it was excellent.

Room Tip: The older section of the hotel has six floors and there is the new towers section. At check-in they...

“Great service and views...”

We stayed in the Tower rooms (had 4 rooms) between Christmas and New Years....had a great time..never left the resort. The kids loved the pool, my sister-in-law got the spa treatment... she loved it. We ordered pizza from That's a Pizza...delicious... The rooms are large and great views...We went to the bar on the top floor...nice and fun. Great shops to check out and the lobby is great to sit and hang out in or play cards in. We will definitely stay there again...

Room Tip: Stay in the tower..worth it...the motel rooms are closer to the pool but a little outdated and dim.

“Gray Ahi Tuna?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Grounds beautiful but rooms are extremely outdated. Wiped my room down with my own clorox wipes. The biggest disappointment was the food in the sports bar. Ordered Ahi Tuna that was an unappetizing color of "gray". When we sent it back stating that ahi tuna was normally a ruby red or pink color. The Chef had the server come and tell us that ahi isn't red/pink. The true color is gray. She continued to tell us that chefs use red food coloring to enhance the color of ahi tuna and that their chef chooses not to dye his tuna "pink". It was weak that the Chef had the server deliver this rather odd message. I work in the food and beverage industry and our Executive Chef has never used red food dye to enhance the color of ahi tuna. Come to think, when I vacation in Hawaii, they don't use red food dye either. I shared my feedback with the General Manager via snail mail and email....never heard back. I see that you value customer feedback. I will never return or recommend your Resort. Plus I have told lots of friends, family and colleagues about our experience. Rather disappointing!!!!!

Room Tip: Stay in the Tower. Don't waste your time with the entry level rooms

“nice resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

This resort is nice. It has a great entrance, but is a bit spread out. The restraunt on the top floor had amazing views, but the food was too ecclectic for me. I had my birthday dinner there and it was a nice experience.
The room could use some updating, a little tired. And the bar was noisy into my room, as I like to open windows.

“Beautiful Hotel if You Stay in the Tower”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I have stayed twice at this hotel-first in a "condo" and then in the tower both while traveling with my husband for his work. I would by far recommend the rooms in the tower. The "condo" we stayed in was very dated, drab and had uncomfortable beds and also not close to the restaurants, shops, spa, etc.

This rating though is of the tower room which was very spacious, nicely decorated and had an excellent view. The bed was also very comfortable. I also took advantage of the spa services while there, while pricy, which is typical of a resort, were very enjoyable and relaxing. The spa itself was beautiful and welcoming.

If you are planning to spend a lot of time in downtown Traverse City or at the wineries be aware that this is a bit of a drive (15-20 min to downtown, more for wineries). Overall I would say if you are staying in the tower this is an excellent hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floors have great views of the bay.
