“A clean pleasant value for Nantucket”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2010

We found the Island Reef a pleasant place to stay. Our rooms were clean and adequate. not huge, but it certainly met our needs. We booked late so had to share a bath but it worked out just fine especially for the price. The owners were pleasant but kept to themselves. I am used to a little more interaction with them, but it was fine. We had 2 rooms on the 3rd floor and we felt comfortable up there although for anyone older the steps are steep and narrow. The towels were so soft and white! Breakfast was filling and we sat outside in the garden with our glass of wine/or breakfast each day.

“Charming inn in the heart of Nantucket town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2010

I have stayed at the Island Reef several times over the last few years and have enjoyed my stay each and every time. The staff is warm, welcoming and very helpful. The serve a continental breakfast with fresh baked goods in the morning and have a a beautiful patio/garden where you can relax for breakfast, lunch or a snack. I can't wait to plan my next trip!

“Great Value, Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2010

My husband reserved some rooms at the Island Reef for a surprise birthday party for me. It is a charming B&B in a great location. We thought it was a great value on a very expensive Island. One thing we loved was that there was a large garden/ patio where we sat out with wine and cheese both night. We had a nice sized bathroom but some had bathrooms that were on the small side. I guess that is what you get with the charm of an old house.

“One of a kind romantic gateway”

We had a great time staying at Island Reef. Our cozy, romantic getaway was a success. The room was clean with a comfortable bed and tasteful decor. The garden was absolutely lovely. Just sit there at the table, have a cup of coffee and read a newspaper.

The guest house is near the downtown, a 2 minute walk. People who work there are very nice, friendly. Overall, we give it 10 out of 10.

We also suggest reserving a dinner at a local seafood place – The Sea Grill. The best seafood restaurant, we could not find a better place in Boston to beat it. Food as well as drinks were excellent.

“Better than average stay in Island Reef”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2009

Nantucket is expensive period - it can also be twee and old-fashioned when it comes to the accomodations. But it is still a most charming island to visit.

Have just returned from a vacation to the Cape - including a couple of nights in the Roberts Inn and an unexpected treat of an extra night in Island Reef (courtesy of my wonderful wife!)

Do not mean to take away from the first review left in December 2008 - I would have been equally appalled to have found such drug paraphenalia ....

However, we found the rooms (common room and bedroom) in the Island Reef to be comfortable, clean and well maintained, the location excellent and close to town, and the price represented superb value ($130 + tax for a night in August - unheard of in Nantucket I would think - maybe it was because we booked on the day and got a knockdown price?)

Well done Island Reef - I'd stay here again any time
