How many times has this happened to you - you check into a hotel, stay there a couple nights, and then come back one night to find someone else staying in your room?
I know... it happens all the time. Oh, wait, no it doesn't. While we stayed at the Nesbitt Inn, the crotchety old owner managed to rent out our room to someone else. So, low and behold, when we came back one night we were locked out (an impressive feat because you have to lock it from the inside so we knew someone was inside).
We went downstairs and rang the bell repeatedly. Nothing. We rang and knocked and made noise (he lives there, so we knew he was THERE). And, mind you, this is approximately 10:30pm at night. So, thankfully, we knew other people at a different location and slept on their floor. In the morning we went over and the befuddled and moronic owner didn't understand what had happened. He then announced that he had moved us to a different room and proceeded to take us to that room. Surprise! He ended up barging in on a family that was in the room we were "in." The family, a father and mother and their two kids, looked as though the cops had just barged in (it was 7 in the morning). And, if you think about it, if you were on vacation and someone stormed into your room at 7am, you might think it was the cops too.
After about 30 minutes of searching the hotel he "located" our new room and we got our luggage and got the hell out of there.
Is it the cheapest place on Nantucket? Yes. But if you like not having locks on your door and no A/C, private bath/toilet in the middle of the summer and the potential to be kicked out of your room and moved to another - without notice - then by all means enjoy the Nesbitt.
