“OK B&B - Great Location with nice porch and garden area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2010

We had a pleasant stay here. Bed and room were OK. We really enjoyed the sitting area in garden. The location was just right for us a bit away from a lot of traffic. The breakfast could use a lot of improvement as nothing was really homey, food wise or room wise. This is just around the corner from the wonderful restaurant ,The Company of the Cauldron.

“Poor Value for the money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2010

Poor Value for money !!‎ - ‎ - Today
Good reviews encouraged us to stay here. Mid-town location indeed convenient. But "hotel" is a big mistake! Our $200/night room was #1 in the Manor house, next to the Inn. Extremely noisy, because one window opened onto the Manor's sitting porch, where other guests gathered to chat from early morning 'til well into evening. Although king-size bed is comfortable, its "bath" is a barely-converted closet, TINY = 22" wide opening to 30" at the widest, with a 28"-square shower, bare AND with no grab bar except the door handle -- had we been heavy, we could not have used the bath. As it was my trim, 6'3" husband had quite a time of it! TINY railroad-car style sink. Sub-standards soaps and amenities. Towel bar barely clinging to the wall! Closet door did not close and its "safe" had no door = unsafe! Lampshades tattered. Provided breakfast was almost all ordinary, packaged, overly-sweet foods (even granola was sugar-coated!) in crowded basement [can't understand the previous "great food" plug]; so next morning, we paid extra for a decent hot breakfast elsewhere. BOTTOM LINE: terribly disappointing; at $200/night ($175 + taxes), very poor value for money. We will never stay here again!! Does not help Nantucket's reputation as over-priced !! NOTE: We travel extensively around the country (and the world), compared to , for example Hampton Inns, this value is about $75/night, more comparable to an Economy Inn!!!

“second time there, first time better”

Mostly enjoyed the location and the courtyard, beautifully landscaped and semi-private. Building exterior is peeling paint, interior also in need of freshening including bathrooms. Staff was courteous. Breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. It is barely continental, nothing fresh or homemade. Over all O.K.

“Loved The Manor House Inn!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2006

Three of us shared a room at this Inn in mid-July, for three nights. First trip to Nantucket so cannot compare this Inn to any others on the island. This is affiliated with The Roberts House/Linden House on the same street, and has the most beautiful gardens I've EVER seen with a property. The porches, one open, one enclosed, with comfy white wicker furniture and lace, were absolutely charming!!!

You walk inside ... there's a winding staircase, and the place is lovely and classy. Our room was on the second floor, #M7, and everything was first-class .... white lacy linens, Gilchrist & Soames bath products, turn-down service. The fireplace could be used in winter, big roomy bath, good TV ... beautiful. Comfy chairs and good reading light, wonderful King bed mattress! (My ONLY complaint is that the *twin bed* was not exactly a twin bed! It was like a futon built into a multi-windowed closet, a mattress on a wooden slab, not long enough for anyone over 5' 4". I managed, at 5' 9", but was not a happy camper with that. I'm sure a child or shorter adult would be comfy in it.)

Breakfast was Continental, next door at the Roberts House, and provided the most delicious homemade pastries and best coffee I've probably ever drank. Also, yoghurt, cereals, juices, fresh fruit ... very good start for the day.)

Location is outstanding ... walk to everything important; we rolled our luggage from the ferry with no problems or undue strain. Keep in mind that you will need to carry luggage up a winding staircase, if you don't have a ground-floor room, so keep it on the light side. Our room was $325 for three adults, high season. Rates are better off-season, of course. Also there are a couple of shared-bath rooms on the third floor that are much more reasonable ... rooms still lovely!

I LOVED this place and would go back tomorrow! I LOVED Nantucket, and can't wait to go back. Do try the Manor House Inn ... it is great!

  • Liked — Beauty, comfort and location
  • Disliked — Twin Bed was not really a twin bed!
  • Tips/Secrets — There ARE excellent, casual eateries in Nantucket where you can eat dinner in shorts and sandals!
