“Magical weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

My husband and I just returned from our weekend stay at The ship's Inn on Nantucket. This was our first trip to Nantucket, since we usually spend time on Block Island and Martha's Vineyard. WOW!! Still can't believe what we have been missing out on all these years! The island is incredibly beautiful, the people are all extremely friendly, and the food is just amazingly delicious. We were there celebrating our 18th Wedding Anniversary and couldn't have picked a more perfect weekend weather wise. The staff at The Ship's Inn are so warm and accomodating. The breakfasts in the morning are just so yummy. Fresh fruit, all kinds of juices, freshly baked scones, muffins, cakes and of course their many delicious vegetable casseroles and bread pudding/ french toast-like desserts are all over-the -top!! The room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. The pillows were on the "hard" side, and could definitely be a bit more fluffy. The shower also seemed to have a mind of it's own, and would lose water pressure a few times and when the pressure would return, the water was freezing cold. We regretably did not have dinner at the restaurant, although it was packed both Friday and Saturday night. The menu did look inventive and really good. We will definitely not miss the restaurant next time we stay at The Ship's Inn!!

“Perfect downtown location, nice and cosy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2010

The Ships Inn has a great restaurant in the basement which is cosy and romantic serving excellent food
Rooms are nice and cosy. All in different colors. They are spacious. The service is extremely friendly. A good breakfast with homemmade but a little greasy items is served in the morning. The Ships Inn is perfectly located few blocks away from the downtown area. It is fully furnished in Nantucket style.
The cosy lobby area can be a place for a break where coffee and cake is served in the afternoon.

“Well-run Inn with excellent breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2009

The Innkeeper was quite relaxed about formalities such as check in/out time, the staff was friendly, the rooms were pretty, although our room's shower/bathtub arrangement was a little "quaint" (a freestanding bathtub with a shower curtain). The restaurant is well-regarded, although we didn't eat there, and the breakfast was a variety of home baked quiche-y or cake-like things or granola and cereal. Yummy. All in all, a very nice place.

“Wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2009

I stayed here this past weekend with my boyfriend and his parents. We all had a wonderful time and loved the Ships inn and the innkeepers. Marylou was very sweet and sent us such a nice note when we made our reservation and remembered that we were coming in for a race (months later).

The rooms we very nice and the beds very comfortable. It was great being just a couple of blocks from the main part of town, but far enough off the main streets that it was nice and quiet.

The breakfast was wonderful - there was so much to choose from. They also served lemonade in the afternoons, that was great.

Overall, I think we will be back again next year and really enjoyed our stay at the Ships Inn

“Nice Place to Stay for the weekend.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2009

We've been coming to Nantucket for the past 10 years. My husband and I stayed here this summer(June ) while the grandkids stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's house down the street. The Inn is situated on a perfect side street perpendicular to Main Street. It is easy to walk to Main Street, the restaurants, and the Harbor. The front parlor is charming - "Nantucket Style" with period antiques and nautical and floral themes . The rooms are nicely furnished, light and bright. Since this is a converted Whaler's House, the stairs to the Upstairs Bedrooms are steep. If you have trouble with stairs this may be an issue. Our bathroom shower would lose water flow , and turn cold if other showers or water faucets were on. The Continental Breakfast was decent. The owners said Hello every morning ,and were as pleasant as could be. Overall it was a nice place to stay on Nantucket. Parking is on the street and can be hard to find which is typical on many streets around town. The price was easier on the wallet than some others, too.
