“not too bad”

good location - just outside the downtown area. It's an older house with around 6-7 rooms. They are small and in dire need of fresh paint and updating. Very small bath. The major disadvantage is you can hear everything!! The people in the next room plus there is a noisy restaurant/bar right beside the house and it gets very noisy around 1pm when it emptys out. One of the few places in Nantucket that welcomes pets. There was a guest staying there with her dog. If it matters (and it did not for us) - no TV, newspapers or internet access. They did serve a respectable continental bkfst.

“Old home in great location and good breakfast!”

Stayed in Southwind room (had nice private deck and harbor view). Loved the location of the guesthouse--steps away from downtown Nantucket town, Brant Point, and half a block from Children's Beach. The water off Children's Beach is calm, clean, and warm in summer: a wonderful place to swim. There is a small take-out place adjacent to the playground that served me a good Panini and gelato. The guesthouse itself was pretty nice. I slept in a rollaway and it was actually very comfortable. Buffet style breakfasts were full of options: fruit, just-baked goods, egg dish, juice, etc. and substantial enough to fill one up till lunchtime. Seating outside and casually talking with other guests was nice. Our room had plenty to like and a few quirks like the bathroom door not fitting good enough to close fully. Very old house, retains a lot of its old world charm (period wallpaper and bedspread). Not a fancy remodeled luxury place but comfortable. Liked the fact that they offered beach towels. Didn't think the common rooms on the entry level smelled great and the wicker furniture there was ok but not too inviting. They did have a wonderful assortment of books and magazines. The wicker furniture on the front porch had cushions that had seen their fair share of exposure, and the hammock was very weathered. Loved the island and this guestrooms location could not be better. Cook's Cycles is about a half a block away and offers great rates on nice bike rentals and many renting options (4 hr/'till closing/24 hr). Definitely recommend trying out the paved bike trails to Dionis beach and then on the Madaket. Was beautiful and both beaches wonderful in their own way.

“View, Charm, Value and Great People !!! (and they take Dogs)”

Safe Harbor Guest House on Nantucket over the 4th of July this summer was one of my most enjoyable vacations this year!! I stayed in the South Wind room which has a large deck with a gorgeous water view and king size bed! The bed & breakfast is located right near the harbor, with a great view and short walk to all the hustle and bustle of town. The Inn keepers were very friendly and knowledgeable. They make a superb breakfast. It was great bringing our dog too!! I can't wait to return to next year.
