Stayed in Southwind room (had nice private deck and harbor view). Loved the location of the guesthouse--steps away from downtown Nantucket town, Brant Point, and half a block from Children's Beach. The water off Children's Beach is calm, clean, and warm in summer: a wonderful place to swim. There is a small take-out place adjacent to the playground that served me a good Panini and gelato. The guesthouse itself was pretty nice. I slept in a rollaway and it was actually very comfortable. Buffet style breakfasts were full of options: fruit, just-baked goods, egg dish, juice, etc. and substantial enough to fill one up till lunchtime. Seating outside and casually talking with other guests was nice. Our room had plenty to like and a few quirks like the bathroom door not fitting good enough to close fully. Very old house, retains a lot of its old world charm (period wallpaper and bedspread). Not a fancy remodeled luxury place but comfortable. Liked the fact that they offered beach towels. Didn't think the common rooms on the entry level smelled great and the wicker furniture there was ok but not too inviting. They did have a wonderful assortment of books and magazines. The wicker furniture on the front porch had cushions that had seen their fair share of exposure, and the hammock was very weathered. Loved the island and this guestrooms location could not be better. Cook's Cycles is about a half a block away and offers great rates on nice bike rentals and many renting options (4 hr/'till closing/24 hr). Definitely recommend trying out the paved bike trails to Dionis beach and then on the Madaket. Was beautiful and both beaches wonderful in their own way.
