“Comfortable overnight stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

We stayed here in September for an overnight stay. We did not know what to expect since this Inn is out of town near the airport. It was just fine! Comfortable beds, room was clean if not a bit dated. We did not want to stay for more than one night on the island as we were there to attend a party on Saturday night. Most places require a 3 night minimum in season.
We got a good rate online that came without breakfast.
We had breakfast there on Sunday and it was a good but not exceptional breakfast. Large buffet that would satisfy most people's needs.
The help were all friendly and the bus service was just fine. We used the bus three times during our brief stay and it was prompt and the drivers were friendly. We would stay there again since we do not like to pay the high rates of the inns downtown and the location turned out to be no problem at all.

Hi washashore! We are so glad that we were able to accommodate you for your one-night stay on Nantucket. And we certainly agree that we are perhaps the best value for your dollar on the island. We look forward to welcoming you again - perhaps for a few more days! Thank you!

“Comfortable stay on business trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Stayed here 3 nights in September (post-Labor Day) for a continuing ed. conference. Staff was friendly and helpful. The Inn was quiet, had a few of the usual amenities, and our room was spacious, clean and more than adequate-- Nothing at all fancy, but good, solid, motel/ hotel type accomodations. Van pickup from the ferry was smooth and shuttles to town ran at least hourly (and twice an hour in the evenings) and were very reliable. If we were on the island again, and not at an on-site conference, I'd look into somewhere with a little more "mojo" but, especially if traveling with kids, I'd think the Inn a good choice, largely on account of having a pool, complimentary breakfast buffet, a little bit of isolation and a good dollar value on the island.

jhkopw we appreciate your honest review. And completely understand your thoughts on "mojo". We are the only true meeting venue on the island and love hosting your group each year as well as many others. We'll look forward to your return in 2012. Thank you again.

“Family friendly -- staff is friendly and helpful.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2011

My wife and I have been to Nantucket as a couple about 5 times in the last dozen or so years -- and have stayed in cute/quaint, somewhat pricey B&Bs near downtown proper and had wrongly thought that staying out near the airport would be a logistical/geographic burden. However -- it was not and it actually had its benefits as it turned out.

Keep in mind the shuttles (to/from beach/town/ferry) are frequent and useful. Should you take an extra few minutes to plan your day -- you should have no troubles.

We had a driver escort us, our luggage (including 5 bikes) for free to and from the ferry with a smiles/good humor. [PLEASE be generous with tips -- these folks work hard (and often in traffic/heat.)]

We took our three children (ages 9, 9, & 6) and one of their friends (7) and stayed in a less-than big enough 'cottage' (king, one bed) room for three nights -- and we used the extra floor space to place a couple air mattresses down at sleep time -- and they loved it. ...which made it both affordable and comfortable. We took the air out in the AM -- and packed them away -- so we had plenty of room all day.

The pools (in and out) are great and clean.

The staff is mostly attentive and friendly.

In truth the facility is a little dated -- but they maintain it pretty well and management have not been so foolish as to throw good money at bad by making it into something it is not/or can't be. It is a GREAT (and practical) destination for family -- especially given the two pools and attentive staff.

...again the grounds were/are clean and more-than adequate.

Bartender was especially friendly -- although we had few 'professional' dealings with him given it was a 'kid' vacation.

As stated we brought our bikes -- and that made it particularly nice given the bike paths all about (to town/to beaches/entire island). We had to rent an additional child's bike with helmet for $18+ that was delivered to the hotel lobby and they picked it back up the next day.

Having nice weather always helps -- and we had that.

If you have children (or don't) save yourself the $100 to $200+ per night and stay at the Nantucket Inn. Use the extra dough you'll save for a nice lunch/dinners, harbor cruise, bike rentals, etc...

Room Tip: Airport can (at times) be a little noisey -- but nights are pretty quiet.

WOW! Jack H. have you ever consider a career as a travel writer. We really appreciate your very detailed review and especially your thoughts as a parent travelling with children. Sometimes, even we forget our strong selling points - and the truth is we are probably your best option for a family-friendly get-away or vacation! Thanks again and we hope to see you next season!

“Great time in Nantucket! Great Family Stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

Just returned from 3 nights at Nantucket Inn. We reserved the larger guest room with 2 double beds and got a cot (3 kids and hubby and I). It was not a **** stay, but what it lacked in oooh's and ahhh's it made up for in the nice way we were all treated! Place is a little dated, but that's Nantucket ... the oldest house was built about 1648!!! We enjoyed the outdoor pool (open until 6pm only) with a separate hot tub, and the inside pool, again with separate hot tub and opened until 9pm. The buildings were separated by little garden areas, and a brick walkway brought you to the main building housing the pool and lobby. Mom's Breakfast was a nice treat! We bought the package that gave us 2 tickets for Mom's Breakfast each night we stayed there. You should note that you can purchase more for $14 which includes eggs, waffles (the best!), sausages, pancakes, etc. If you choose a continental breakfast, that is $7.00 and includes cereal, danish, yogurt and fruit, and toasts, bagels, etc. Coffee and small sample of danish and fruit were found at the lobby area.

The shuttle buses were amazing. Drivers always friendly. I was surprised that not too many visitors said "thank you" upon getting to their destination. Please say thanks ... these guys do this ALL DAY LONG! Hourly trips to Surfside Beach (great family spot but busy - can rent umbrellas $10, chairs $5 - and there is a small food shack, bathroom w/ running water and place to clean off your sandy feet). They also run hourly to town and every 1/2 hr. from 6-11pm (or later??). They also got us to our ferry and picked us up upon arrival to the island.

I also purchased the program where I received a $50 voucher to a choice of two restaurants. One (AK Diamonds) is walking distance from the resort, so that was great! Also check out the restaurant at the airport. Although we didn't go there, we heard from many people that it was worth while and close.

We loved Nantucket. This was a great option for families! It gave us a little area to spread out, and the amenities (pools and tennis) were nice to have available vs getting a B&B. We are glad we went!

Thanks mfturk for the nice and very detailed review! We can't do anything about our location (we can always wish we were oceanfront) But we think, we more than compensate with our complete facilities, great services and awesome staff! Many of the improvements we make each year come directly from our guests suggestions. You can be assured we are always working on the "oooh's and ahhh's" as long as we can maintain our affordable rates. Thank you again. And we are "glad you went" too!

“Good hotel for children”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

This is our third visit to the Inn. We usually stay for one night while waiting to get into our vacation rental home. The staff is very friendly. The cottage that we stayed in looked much bigger in the pictures but was OK for 4 of us for one night. "Mom's" breakfast buffet is plentiful and the children enjoy sitting on the 2nd floor porch watching the planes take off and land from the airport just across the street. The inn has the only indoor pool on the island which is nice if you have a nasty day. The outdoor pool is nice too but does need some updating. All in all a good place to stay. We will certainly visit again!

Thanks susan! We are always glad we can assist those of you in "one-night ferry limbo". We've recently had a few comments about the outdoor pool area and we are already formulating some plans for a refesh by 2012. Thanks for your review.
