Late review, but my wife and I stayed at the Century House for an extended weekend last September. I searched Trip Advisor, and given that I made plans last minute, I was pleasantly surprised to find the Century House available. I spoke with JeanE, one of the innkeepers at length, and she was extremely outgoing and helpful in selecting a room for the weekend.
We stayed in the Daffodil room, a corner room on the second floor facing Cliff Road with a king-sized canopy bed. The room was decorated in period furnishings, and very clean. The bed was comfortable, and the common areas of the inn were very quaint and inviting, with tasteful furnishings. JeanE and Gerry were very friendly, accomodating and informative.
The location was perfect, on a quiet side street removed from the traffic. We were just a few blocks from the center of town, and a short walk to restaurants and shopping. There was ample parking on the street, although a permit is needed.
The only negative I would offer is that the room was relatively small, as one would expect in a historic B and B built in the 19th century. I did not feel crowded, however, and with the availability of numerous distractions in Nantucket in close proximity, it was not an issue. The cobblestone streets can be wearing on your back and feet, so plan on bringing broken-in and comfy walking shoes to explore the downtown area.
