“Right in the center of the action”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2010

I recently stayed here with my wife and 2 children, ages 9 and 11 and our Nanny. This is our 2nd year in a row staying here and we find it perfect for our needs. The house is located right in the middle of Nantucket town, which is very convenient for restaurants and shopping. The owners are very helpful with suggestions. Although the place may need a little "sprucing up", we found it very reasonable for Nantucket and the included breakfast for which they give you vouchers for 9 dollars a person, either at the Even Keel or Arnods at 41 are a great bonus. I will definitely be staying here again when i return to Nantucket

“Simple, quaint, relaxing -- right in the heart of town!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2009

The Chestnut House is a simple, lovely, quaint and comfortable accommodations. The best part: situated near the heart of beautiful downtown Nantucket Island. The two owners, Jerry & Jeannette, are gracious hosts. As a matter of fact, they are talented artists as well. The overall experience exceeds our expectations and if we go back to Nantucket, certainly the Chestnut House will be our choice for the next visit.

“Only place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2008

My wife and I try to go every year. Cozy, hospitable friendly and convenient. The negative reviews must come from folks who issue negative reviews everywhere they go. Robert in Virginia

“Very good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2008

It was surprisingly difficult to find reasonably-priced accommodations for a family with children for a long July weekend on Nantucket. We resorted to a Nantucket hotel service to find Chestnut House and made our final decision based on TripAdvisor reviews. This is a quaint old house with a lot of character in a very convenient location. If you want the Marriott, this is the wrong place. The suite was clean and spacious. The air conditioner was not effective so we kept the windows open; this worked fine though noise from pedestrian conversations came through loud and clear. Although the bathroom was clean and spacious, it did have a slightly musty smell. The proprietors were friendly and helpful. The breakfast vouchers were very welcome. All in all, we felt this was a very good value for the money. We'd have no hesitation coming back.

“Quaint and Cozy”

My parents and I stayed at the Chestnut House last July, and it was absolutely adorable. The Interior was very quaint and old-fashioned; it reminded me of my grandmother's house. The woman who owns the Chestnut House is very sweet and helpful, though her daughter who works as a maid there was quite bitter and cold.

We stayed in a suite that had a bedroom and a living room, and I stayed on the pull out couch while my parents had the bed. The couch was very old and uncomfortable, but the bed was very much the opposite. And in addition, it was so large that I was able to sleep there with my parents too. :)

In all, the Chestnut House is a lovely old spot, very charming and sweet. It definitely captures the essence of "old nantucket"'s historical housing.
