My wife and I typically travel to Nantucket for two or three nights each summer and have stayed at several different Inns and B&Bs. We recently stayed at the Nantucket Whaler for two nights and have finally found "the one" that will be our first choice for all future visits. The comfort, cleanliness and convenince of this Inn cannot be beat.
We got caught in the rain both getting on and off the ferry, so on the one hand we were obviously looking forward to checking in, cleaning up, and changing into dry clothes. But on the other hand, we were not looking forward to the prospect of being confined to a small bedroom (as is the case with most B&Bs on the island) until the rain stopped. Boy were we peasantly surprised! After the very short walk from the Steamship wharf, we were given a warm welcome by Randi, swiftly checked in, and were ushered to our room through the "emergency exit" so we did not have to go back out into the rain.
Our "room" turned out to be a very spacious "suite" (#8), complete with a large and comfortable living room and a nice wetbar & kitchenette area including a sink, fridge, microwave, and toaster oven. There were two small but functional bedrooms, one w/queen bed and one w/two twin beds (this was locked as not needed). The private bathroom was a suite in itself which included a huge walk in shower with multiple heads and jets and well as an oversized jacuzzi tub. We loved everything about the suite. Including the comfortable furniture and bed, to convenience of the kitchen/wetbar area, the overall decor, and the "spa like" oversized bathroom. The linens and towels were of high quality, very fresh and scented.
Each room had a set of patio furniture outside on the deck or veranda, along with addtional tables and chairs on the lawn overlooking the beautiful private garden area in back of the Inn. While it's only a two or three minute walk to shops and restaurants, the unique design of the Inn and the layout of the property creates a peaceful and tranquil setting to enoy morning coffee or a late afternoon cocktail while reading or just relaxing doing nothing.
We have come to love Nantucket for, among other things, it's beauty, peacefulness, architecture, and fine dining. The Nantucket Whaler is an achitecturally beautiful, peaceful and perfect retreat close to everything. While we did not have much interaction with Randi or Calli after checking in, we have no doubt they would have been helpful and responsive if we had questions. We loved everything about the Inn, enjoyed our stay immensely, and will most definitely return.
