We found the inn conveniently located, it was a short walk from the ferry and to the downtown area. We were greeted for our stay by a note on the door. It directed us to enter our unlocked room and invited us to help our selves to a galley sized kitchen where we could find cookies and beverages. No water was to be found, but cokes were provided. We found our room to be clean but sparse. The only chair provided was in the bathroom, the only other seating was on the bed. There were shades on the windows, but not on the glass door, where only a thin cafe curtain kept prying eyes at bay. We spent the first night shivering under the generous covers. There seemed to be no heat at all, the air coming from the registers was not warm. The next morning, we discovered that it was warmer outside than in. We requested that the heat be turned up, and they complied. The breakfast provided was indeed a couple of quickbreads and coffee as a previous review reported. The weather warmed up, and we had a more comfortable sleep that evening. The next day brought cooler temperatures however, and we spent another cold, sleepless night in that little room. We never met the owners of the Inn, never saw them, never met them. My husband spoke to the housekeeper a second time about the excessive cold. and she said that we should have called her about the problem, but we're not sure how that would have been accomplished. There was a posted cell phone number for the owners, but we weren't sure that they were even there! Someone had obviously turned the heat down, but neglected to turn it back up when the temperature dropped. The Cobblestone Inn is a bargain on the island, but it's good to remember that you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay a little more and have heat, making the room livable, and a chair to sit in to read the paper. We wouldn't go back and wouldn't send anyone else there.
