Other reviewers have it right, and I wouldn't go back a second time. When I called to reserve a night in the early spring, the owner who answered the phone told me to just go back online and reserve a room. Online, after making my reservation, I asked if I could come early to drop off my bags because the ferry would be dropping me off way before the 3p.m. check in time. I got a "No" on that because their help wasn't there yet. I wish at this point I'd cancelled. I figured since it was so early in the season, it wouldn't be a problem to accommodate us, but it seems any request is a problem to these owners. Room was very small, shower set up strangely, so that you had to reach in way past the shower to turn it on - and got all wet and then had to stick my arm in the very hot water to adjust the temp. Mattress very hard, yet had a "trough" in the middle that we both had to fight to stay out of. When we asked about breakfast, we were encouraged to go out and get something somewhere else. As we couldn't sleep in late with that mattress, I sent my husband downstairs to get some coffee that was listed as part of the room price. No coffee, or anything else, until we went out to find some in town and then came back much later. We actually laughed about the owners' attitude, sort of an old fashioned Yankee "we don't need you here, you're very lucky we put up with you", which is okay if that's what you're looking for!

Again, A bad review because we could not let the guest in before 3:00PM, our checkin time. Reasons are one or more of the following. The room was not ready, Needed more time to get the room ready etc. We have a few hours to prepare all the rooms and do not want the guests stuff to get in the way. Guests think that rooms can be ready on a whim.
As for the shower, this is a beautiful historical property in Nantucket. The bathrooms were added at a later date and were built in the cornor of the room. The layout sometimes allows only one way to be set up when we redid the showers in tile and added glass doors. In this case, the shower is long with a shower door at a slight angle so as to fit within the space. Result is that it is not perfect to modern standards, but it is very functional.
I could not find anything wrong with the bed in question, nor have I had any other guest complain. The room is one of the most popular, especially with returning guests. If there was a problem, why wasn't it brought up with the Innkeepers?
In early spring and again in late fall, many of our guests opt to go out for breakfast rather than have our continental breakfast in the Inn. Because many times we have prepared the breakfast and nobody came, we leave a sign out next to the coffee pot and ask our guests to buzz us if they want breakfast. We have never had a complaint about this. This guests has this totally wrong.
I believe that nobody would have but good reviews to write about any property if they understood why properties have check-in and check-out times, and try to adhere to them. Most of our guests understand this. Also, if you have a problem bring it up with the owner/manager. This goes for ALL properties, not just the Centre Street Inn. We would love to hear of what you like and don't like about a property, instead of blabbing it all over Trip Advisor when you don't understand the facts.
