Kapistec is a not terrible cheap hotel in Skopje run by the family that owns it. They are nice people, helpfu, they speak English. The hotel has wifi that usually works. It takes credit cards, but, like most places that take credit cards in Macedonia, the credit card machine never works. The hotel is NOT central at all - it's a good 30 minute walk to the center. Taxis however can be easily obtained by walking over to the McDonald's near the hotel. There is also a Vero supermarket nearby, a great restaurant called Makedonska Kuka. Other minuses: it's not overly clean. For example they replace your towels every day but a lot of the clean towels they bring you smell like mildew and rot. The facilities, especially the bathrooms, are cleanish, but in a way that says "clean enough, but we're not really trying". Would I go back? Yes, but only if I really wanted to save money. If you have the means, stay somewhere nicer.
