This hotel is fairly new, and that is why it still get a"Very Good" mark. However, they need to work on lots of things.
First of all, the web site is ugly and out of this millenium. Then the reservations that I made over web interface and confirmed month ahead by phone, weren't there when I showed up. Luckily, the hotelwas all but empty so that wasn't really an issue.
I must reccomend the food, which was really good.
But the small details reveal that you're on Balkan - broken tiles, strange hole on the floor covered by the carpet, funny odor in the roomthat wasn't used for awhile, very loud (close to malfunctioning) fans of the HVAC, and annoying howling of the wind against loose balcony door... And with -12°C outside the heat quickly dissapears so the fan must be on most of the time, the hot air is too dry... Not realy high quality construction and facility management.
The roadsigns in the city are almost non-existent, until you are so close that you canseethe building that dominates that part of the suburbs. Funny thing is that almmost everything in Macedonia is called after Alexander the Great (the Skopje airport, the main highway, etc.) so there is some small older hotel in the center also called Aleksandar so if you ask people in thr streets for directions they will direct yuo to that one ;-)
The Garage is NOT anyhow connected with the hotel, so in snowy conditions like now this is really nasty. Zero points for the architect.
But they give you a broom to clean the car of the snow ;-)
All at all not so bad, but who gave them 5 stars?!
