“Every day it feels like I'm on a holliday, after work.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

I really do enjoy staying here in Hotel Vergina. I spend half of my life in Hotels all around the world because of business reasons and I regret that nearly no 5 star hotels can beat it.
The reason? The mediterranian feeling. The beautiful garden with 2 small pools and terasse, the frienly and nice staff. I feel like home and for me it means much more than any fancy elevators and golden inserts in big elite Hotel.
All the rooms are equipped with aircon, wich is a must in 38 degrees and there is a small fridge, where you can store your beverages in. Not a minibar for a fortune.
On the other hand, the Hotel is located directly beside a busy highway which makes the garden a bit noisy but I asked for a room on the opposite side and it is quiet.
They have free WiFi in the rooms and outside as well. There is a small gym with basicly one multifunctional machine which is maybe not the best for serious body builders but any who wants to make some excercises can find enough function on it for most of the muscle groups.
The gym is also included in the price. Just like everything else but the drinks. By the way, the breakfast is not the best. The quality is OK, but the range is a bit poor. I missed the vegetables.
The only real disadvantage is the location of it. The busy highway and that it is really in the middle of nowhere. There is only one restaurant in walking distance and that's it. Only gas stations and car dealers. The river Vardar is about 400meters away where you can jog, ride a bike and it leads you to the city center which is about 45 minutes by walk.
More lazy guys should take a taxi which is quite reasonable. About 3-4hundred Denars to the center. (about 6 Euros)

I would recommend this Hotel for Families with small children, for a group of friends to make some party outside and business travellers who wants to feel like they are on holliday after work.
In winter time I would take an other hotel closer to the center If I had to stay for a longer period.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the perking area side!

“Good hotel, very friendley staff”

We stayed here for 3 nights as we were visiting Skopje to watch soccer game : Macedonia v Ireland. The hotel is just outside the city and is basic, very clean and has excellent staff.

There were 14 of us in our group and we would recommend the hotel for groups looking for good value accomodation.

The one thing all visitors to Skopje need to be aware of is the taxi drivers, many of them will try to over charge you, we would suggest you agree a price before the journey starts.

“Beautiful, inexpencive, charming hotel in Skopje”

A group of friends with teenagers travelled across Macedonia last month and I must say that hotel Vergina was the best choice on our trip. Yes, this is small 3* hotel but very clean and inexpensive. Rrooms are spacious and very nice with elegant blue blankets on the beds (room No.51 on the ground floor). Bathroom is also very clean but not very up to date. Breakfast is adequate.
We must catch a plane very early in the morning, so we weaked up at 4 am and the breakfast was waiting for us - thanks again to very friendly staff (they was there whenever we needed). In front of the hotel there is a beautiful green garden with two little pools and a sitting place for relax with a breathtaking view on Vodno hill with a Millenium Cross on the top. I recommended it.

“Not a business class hotel, but probably OK for Skopje”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

We were booked into this hotel by a cost-conscious client. The hotel produced a rather strange impression on us. On one hand, it seemed really new and clean, with a cheerful, albeit kitschy, decor. The staff was young and friendly. However, the furnishings were really basic. There were only two towels in the bathroom, and no towel to put on the rather cold floor. It is located in the middle of nowhere, and our rooms overlooked a rather noisy highway. My colleague and I seemed to be the only two guests in our wing of the hotel (separate from the rest of the hotel and the reception wing), which felt a little creepy. Homeless dogs howling outside by night contributed to this feeling. Most importantly, despite a statement of the reception to the contrary, there was no wireless, or any other, internet in our rooms (there was WiFi in the common area downstairs). Since I was travelling on business, I found this very inconvenient.

“Good Value Accomodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2008

13 of us stayed at the Hotel Vergina when we were in Skopje to watch Scotland v Macedonia.

The hotel has a lovely pool but as a previous poster has mentioned it was empty although they filled a smaller plunge pool for us. The rooms were good and breakfast was adequate, cold meats/cereals/coffee/orange juice etc.

The hotel is about 35 mins walk to the centre along by the river but taxis were only 120 dinar although returning to the hotel they tried to charge us anything up to 1300 dinar !

  • Liked — Good sized rooms, friendly welcome
