“Great location, good restaurant - but take your earplugs!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2009

Booked this hotel after reading recommendations on this site. I'm not a fussy traveller by any means but my biggest gripe was the amount of noise between 2am-4am generated by the cleaners in the restaurant below. This happened every night. Not knowing the source of the noise the first night I honestly thought the room next door was being renovated! If you can imagine the cleaners below scraping every restaurant chair along the wooden floor so they could vacuum - you might get the picture. Chinese torture. As I gathered that every room was on the same floor (i.e. the 1st floor) I wouldn't imagine this would be different for any other room.

There were 2 hotel staff from what I could gather; one (seemingly the owner) sadly did not exactly go out of her way to make us feel welcome. Okay, language may be a barrier but it still doesn't prevent folk from at least appearing to make the extra effort. The other member of staff on the other hand was very friendly and helpful. The front desk is not frequently staffed but this isn't really a problem; a quick hop down the stairs to the restaurant and word soon gets around followed by a rapid appearance.

The restaurant below was excellent. Good staff, good variety, reasonably decent standard food and modestly priced. If you're a non-smoker however then beware. This isn't a fair critic of the restaurant however because the entire Balkan states are one large ashtray!

“Great restaurant and staff”

Stayed in Skopje for 4 days. The Dal Met Fu is in the hub of the city. Only six rooms which are clean and well equiped with great views over main square. Restaurant down stairs for breakfast, which we ate nearly all our meals in, it was so convenient and reasonable. This was the place to be seen in, always bustling, with a large area outside to have coffee and meals when the weather allowed. So glad I chose this hotel, as others that had interested us were much further out of the city and not nearly so convenient.

“Great choice!!! Cheap!!! Centrally located!!! Excellent staff!!!”

Very clean hotel in the city center which is cheap. Everywhere is walking distance.

At first i made a big mistake to stay at Ambassodar hotel which is more expensive, dirty sheets, smelly hotel and away to the center.

The staff of Dal Met Fu is extremely friendly and helpful.
If i ever go to Macedonia i would deffinetely stay at Dal Met Fu.

“Excellent choice”

It starts with the location: on the central square of Skopje. So many, many people walking by there all day and night (what is so great about the Balkan: very lively).

Downstairs the restaurant is one of the best ones in Skopje. Very good food and impeccable service (it is all about the management, which is excellent). Here also you get your breakfast served.

Price is very reasonable (55 Euro per night when I stayed there in June 08).

Rooms are huge, large, bright, have TV, fridge and a computer with internet connection.

Staff very friendly and helpful.

The reception is not always staffed, as the restaurant is the main business, they only have about 6 rooms, and the person dealing with the reception often helps out down in the restaurant when that gets very busy (as it is every day). Just go down in the restaurant and you will find the person you need.

What I like best is that you are in the centre of the city life. When you come down immediately you feel the atmosphere and energy of the city. Would not change it for any other hotel in Skopje.

“Good price, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2008

The hotel sounded a bit odd from some of the reviews I'd read but it was half the price of most of the other centrally located hotels which proved too tempting!

Basically the very popuar Dal Met Fu restaurant has made excellent use of the space upstairs and converted it into a handful of modern, light filled bedrooms with every thing you'd expect in any other hotel plus the added bonus of a computer in the room if you need one. The little reception desk on the landing isn't always manned but if there's no one there you just pop downstairs to the restaurant and find someone.

The hotel/restaurant is located on the pedestrianised main square with views of the Stone Bridge. The lovely old town is just over the bridge, there are taxis sitting just off the square for getting to the station or airport and the restaurant itself has a large outdoor terrace on the square and a big choice of food, including the breakfast options for the hotel guests. There was a tiny bit of noise coming up from the restaurant at night but not enough to stop us from sleeping and it quietened down as soon as the Eurovision final had ended.

The only thing the hotel couldn't provide was a map. Well they did have a map but you had to buy it and it was HUGE, we'd have been wrestling with it all day so we relied on the one in our guide book. Talking of which Skopje doesn't get a lot of attention in guide books but we really enjoyed it, especially the old town, so don't rush through.
