“Good, but you have to pay internet separately”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Good hotel, but its actually boring in a sense of simple rooms, big hotel, a sense of no soul in it. The only thing I actually liked is a very rich breakfast, variety of salads, breads, cakes, hot and cold staff, even some real hot dishes, etc. Location is also good. I guess it will be a nice view once the construction is over, its just outside the promenade by the river Vardar. I couldnt believe there is no internet in rooms, and they ask 20 EUR a day for the internet connection! So, if I have to pay 120 EUR for a room, which is too much I think, then at least I should have free wireless internet connection. So, this hotel still has space for improvement. I was in some other hotels in Skopje and I think better value for money then this one.

Room Tip: rooms are very simple and there are not much of a view on both sides, except perhaps doubles etc, bu...

“For lovers of a hotels from another regime”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

Well there is not much choice when you want to sleep in Skopje...the city has a pretty limited choice of good hotels especially in the centre. Stone Bridge was full so I was recommended the holiday inn.
The building is typically "Soviet style", just plain square boring.
Friendly check-in got an upgrade to a one bedroom apartment, unfortunately on second floor with view on nothing. The room was spacious but unfortunately the TV is in the living room, old CRT not many choices and poor reception. Further issue is heating, by reverse air conditioning, a hotel with no real heating, amazing....you have to suffer the noise and the air flow all night to get some heat and believe me it was freezing cold outside so there was no alternative than to let the air con work all night. Bed was old but you got the choice of hard or soft pillow! I would prefer a flat screen TV at the end of my bed...
Breakfast was very average again with a quality of products reminiscent of the good old Soviet block states hotels...
Bar: again just feeling like 25 years ago...
Check-out: Queue, and just 2 gentlemen trying their best...my local guest was so embarrassed that he invited me for a coffee at the bar to let the queue clear up.
Location: very central one major issue though, when leaving the place one night for a walk we got harassed by two kids for money, they were like pots of glue, touching us following us we had to insist a lot for them to go away, which they did but not before hitting me in the back before doing so...quite annoying when you are attacked by a 10 year old...
One major positive point in Skopje the new airport open a few months ago just perfect except security control, really un professional, disorganized...

Room Tip: try a higher floor you might get a nice view of the city centre and the old town

“Good hotel good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

This is a modern hotel in the centre of Skopje, 7 minutes walk from the bus and train station and on the bank of the river. Its in a good location and you can walk to most of the main places in the city from here. Staff are friendly and speak English, French, German and Italian, and the rooms are clear with wifi. The restaurant, whilst nice for breakfast, is a bit sad and lonely in the evening.

“Holiday Inn standard, but over-priced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

This hotel has an excellent location; near the downtown area, right on the river front, walking distance to a shopping mall, ATM, and lots of restaurants. It is easy to get a taxi right out front. It is also a short walk to the Stone Bridge and over to the Old City Market.

The lobby is adequate, but not luxurious for the price that you are paying. There is Wi-Fi, but it is not free, which was surprising given the price per night. There are a couple of computers and a printer near the lobby that are always available, which was great.

Rooms are a little on the small side, but are completely adequate, clean, and comfortable. Nice bathroom, towels, etc. Coffee and tea in the room, along with refrigerator. The bed was comfortable, with a thick, warm Asian-type comforter, rather than typical sheets and blankets.

Exercise room available, and full breakfast also available - again, for a price, a very high price. Our group chose to walk around the corner and have breakfast each day at one of the indoor/outdoor cafes that overlook the river, for about half the price.

“Your typical Holiday Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

I have stayed in this hotel for couple of dozen times over the last few years so it is kind of becoming my home away from home.

One of the biggest advantages this property has is its location. The central square is no more than couple of minutes away. Next to the hotel is a shopping centre that also has a decent supermarket. There are plenty of great restaurants in the neighborhood. Service is great - the guys at the reception always make me feel welcome.

Rooms are not big but always clean. Same is true for the bathroom. Some of the rooms have a nice view of the river and old castle.

The most negative aspect is the price. As there has really been not much competition in Skopje they have been free to dictate the price and I would say that given the quality of the hotel the rooms are overpriced. Same goes for the internet.

Breakfast is ok, there is a good selection of both cold and warm dishes. Avoid the room service - the food has been constantly bad (and expensive) over all those years. Mind you, you have some excellent restaurants right next door!

Do not use the hotel taxi for trips in the town - just across the street from the hotel is a taxi stand and the trip within the city will not cost you more than couple of euros..

I will stay there again as their great service makes up for some shortcomings I described...

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the river and castle view!
