So disgusting!! ... Just... DISGUSTING!
I chose this hotel because we were going to my cousin's Christmas party. The hotel was 15 minutes from his house, and since we lived 2 1/2 hours away, it seemed like a very nice alternative to a ride home... Pool, hot tub, spa, breakfast, not to mention, it was a pet-friendly hotel that would accommodate our 12 year old springer spaniel, who has recently started having seizures.
Upon arrival, there was a giant, smashed beer bottle in the parking lot near the main entrance. We were lucky to have missed it with our car tires, because a flat tire is the last thing anyone needs when away on vacation! We brought the bottle to the hotel's attention, and they said they would get maintenance right on it.... Well, one hour afterwards, when walking our dog, we had to keep him away from the shards that still remained scattered all over the parking lot. 2 hours later, when leaving for our party, the mess was still there!!! Isn't that a safety hazard?
The room, when we first walked in, smelled funny... Like death and mold, and other nasty stuff. Luckily, though, I had planned for this--being a Scentsy consultant, I was armed with a flame free candle, that quickly got the place smelling like pine trees.
My mother immediately noticed mold growing up the curtains... (Ew.) All the scratches on the furniture, the chips in the tiles, tub, and countless other defects. But we decided to grin and bear it for one night. It sure beat a 2 1/2 hour drive back home....
Went for a swim, and found the hot tub was broken... Something both my mother and I had planned on using due to our bad backs.... Even the pool seemed dirty.. Very disappointing.
After the Christmas party we returned to the hotel about 11PM, (Yes, the broken glass remained in the parking lot) I fell asleep around then, and woke up around 1AM to my mother's frantic "WE NEED TO LEAVE, NOW! I WANT TO GO HOME!"
After laying in bed, and watching TV for two hours my mother felt something biting her ankle! She tried telling herself it was all in her imagination, until she saw a huge bug run across her mattress. So, yes, it was a bedbug.
Upon opening her pillow case she found the pillow was infested with larvae.... So disgusting!!!! I wanted to throw up.
We packed up and drove right home.... Another Two and a halfs hours.... Shed our clothing outdoors in twenty degree weather so as to not risk infesting our own home.. Still don't know what to do with the clothes on the porch, or the bags in our car...
The worst part, though?
There are now two very sad children who did not get to see their aunties or get their Christmas presents because we had to leave so early and unexpectedly.
Thank you for nothing!!!
