“Pleasant location, great food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

The Resort was built for a 5 star trade that collapsed. Seems the hotel was closed for a lengthy period and has recently been reopened as a casino-less resort. Sure the place has some flaws, but there is a team of wrokers trying to bring it back to it's previous standard. Meanwhile the rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. The restaurant serves really good food (breakfast and dinner) and there is a friendly karaoke (Harry's) bar that attracts a small crowd most nights.

Room Tip: Try to get into the renovated blocks of the hotel for nice rooms.

“Hasn't been touched since they closed it 12 years ago and looks like it.”

What an eye opener.. There is No restaurant (maybe in the works?), No TV, No internet even on your phone, Hygiene conditions questionable, as I got very sick and went to hospital. No transport. No pool. basically nothing since it closed down in 1992 after the great Suharto money laundering debacle.. The air conditioners are all wired dangerously as of June 2010 100+units, This has been reported. Other electrical works are poor or dangerous, so they have been tagged out but I’m sure much more to go. Admittedly they have done some work towards this so don’t touch anything. (My opinion as an electrical contractor) No cooking facilities in the rooms, only tiny fridges and a kettle. Stay there only if it’s your last option and you can speak Korean to communicate with the staff.

“Poor Location”

Recently, Our family planned a trip to this place, the place look nice, loading dock, swimming pool, playground, and they said there were few private beaches?? Well, we been there 3 days, I discover throughout the place, there was no such things as a private beach. But the place look nice with free row boat, parking free boat launching.
The pool look old and the water is really bad, look like they have not clean it for a while. All the children in our family got home, they were all sick as the result of the dirty indoor pool.
The room cost as much as holiday inn price. But it is the WORST place I ever stay. The carpet is very bad, dirty, smell like they have not asked a professional to clean it for a while. The kitchen is dirty and also the broken cheap refrigerator. What type of bedding are they using. Look absolutely old and dirty. I don't even want to talk about the A.C unit, smell, the filter is dirty. We ended up opened a window to get some fresh air at night instead of that dirty filtered AC.
if you imagine that how many people stayed in this place, go out to the pool, pond and come back into the room with their wet feet or sleeper, with all the dirt and go into the carpet room, this is what caused the carpet smelled so bad.
I WOULD NEVER COME BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN AND RECOMMENDED PEOPLE NOT TO COME, YOU'LL BE SO DISAPPOINTED WITH THE DIRTY AMENITIES.
you will rather book a holiday inn, hotel, or any place that is the same price but much much better than this LUXURY type resort???

“Quaint with Nature”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2004

The Christmas Island Resort used to be 'the' Casino to go to, and had accommodation for up to 400~500 people. Nowdays it is a quiet retreat set on fabulous gardens and right at the cliffs looking down at the water.

Sunrises at the Resort are spectacular, as it looks due east on the island. The power of nature has to be seen too.

Being around 8km to the downtown area, you do need a rental car, or be a very keen walker.

The place is ideal for 'getting-away', and still the highest quality accommodation at the the Island.

I spent 3 weeks there in Oct/Nov 2003.
