My husband I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Amherst Inn over the Christmas holiday. The historic nature of the Inn, fine service and interesting clientele appealed to us both. The room was spacious, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic- not only the fresh fruit cup and fine coffee but wonderfully baked items from the kitchen- ask for the omelet! The Swedish holiday decorations gave the breakfast room a special charm. Sharing the table with such a variety of interesting people made every morning special.

Gorgeous rooms, decor, colors, wallpaper, lamps, furniture, just lovely! Beds comfortable. Right across the street from Emily Dickinson house. And down the street from a great hot tub spa. Nice hiking in the area. Free parking. We stayed in the turret room which was a bit noisy from street noise but the loveliness made up for that. Small shower but we went to the spa so didn't even use it. Highly recommended although breakfast was sitting a bit too long to make it top notch. One plus, when we arrived the smell of the house was full of freshly baking cookies...which we were given a couple...yum. I'd go back.

We came for the night and this inn surpassed our expectations. Warm and inviting, we felt immediately comfortable and pleased with our choice. Ann, our innkeeper, was kind and accommodating and happy to help us find a restaurant or something fun to do in town, which was only about a five minute walk away. Our room was beautiful and the bed was cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was relaxing and had something for everyone. I am vegan and my partner gluten free and we had no problem eating. We will be back!

I stayed at this place for a job interview, and the experience was absolutely wonderful! Alan and Ann, the owners of this place, were very knowledgeable and very friendly! They made me feel like at home and forget about all the interview stresses!
The breakfast was amazing, lots of choices. Especially the eggs made by Ann, OMG, sooooo good! You should definitely ask her about the secret tips to cook eggs! If you go to Amherst, whether for vacation or work, i would highly recommend this place!
