“Fresh and cozy amongst the beautiful fall foliage of Adams.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

My husband and I just enjoyed a very peaceful stay at the Mount Greylock Inn. All of the rooms in the house were interesting, unique, and charming. We felt at home while we still had the sense of space, privacy, and freedom to roam. The location of the Inn is perfect, nestled in the nearby mountains and surrounded by the bursting colors of fall.

“Central location, but clearly not for everyone”

We've stayed at Mount Greylock Inn twice. Location and price; ease of access and lack of pretension - these are its assets.

Yes, the key is just waiting for you in an envelope, but this means you can arrive when you want to, not according to the innkeeper's schedule. We didn't show up until 10:30pm the last time. No problem.

In my experience having the innkeeper sit down to breakfast with you is not uncommon. We know a lot more about small town life because of this sort of experience and are happy for it. Don't stay here if you're looking for the Royal Spa Treatment - that's available for another $100 up the road.

Eric, the cat, is a potential problem. He's a very friendly chap. But don't stay in the Overlook Room if you are dander allergic - this is a nice sunny room at the top of the stairs and Eric clearly sleeps here often.

“Not a warm and cozy b&b”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2009

There's nothing horrible about this inn, there just wasn't anything to make it special. It's a large victorian house that has been well restored. We decided to spend more on a b&b rather than a hotel for a romantic ambiance. Visually the house had charm, but it felt empty and cold (not temperature-wise). We were the only people there over the weekend, so that contributed to this feeling. The people that run the inn are very nice, but they're not the owners and do not live there. It doesn't feel bed & breakfasty at all. There is a whiny cat that we were invited to throw outside if he became annoying, which he did, but it didn't seem right to toss the creature out of his own house. I don't mind spending more than for a nice place to hang around, but we didn't want to spend any more time than necessary at the inn. Maybe this would be a good place to stay if you fill the place up with your own peoples.

“Perfect Inn-Glad I did not listen to reviews!”

I Booked my trip and then looked at reviews and was like OH NO! Give this inn a chance! It was wonderful- we arrived to calssical music and all the vintage victorian lights on with a message from the caretakers to make ourselves at home and they would see us in the am. It was like we had this cozy home to ourselves. So we hung out and made tea and sat in the parlour. We woke up to the most amzing homemade cinnamon muffins that Adrienne had baked. They sat down with us and we had an awesome experience sharing stories with them. Very warm people. They left after breakfast and told us to stay as long as we wanted. Rooms were really nice and bathroom was spotless and even had a towel warmer. Great character to the house. There was a cool cat there and if you didnt like him(you couldnt help but love him) you could just put hime outside!
So dont listen to a few crabby customers- what you get is a homey feeling in a home you feel like you have to yourselves!

“A Bit Of A Disappointed Stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2008

There was no one to greet us but an envelope and a cat that was crying at us. The room we stayed didn't have a shade on the wndow that faced the street - just a lace curtain which was uncomfortable. The shower only had hot water until the next day.
The breakfast was the sparsest - 3 mini muffins and a small fruit cup with coffee and juice. There was no milk in the house to go with the mini cereal boxes that were out. There was no t.v. in the room either.

  • Liked — quaint house
  • Disliked — lackluster breakfast
