“Unique Bed & Breakfast Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed at Topia this past weekend. We were in the area to visit Mass MoCa and came across Topia through some travel websites. We were a bit nervous to book given the website outlines quite a few rules to help keep the building and rooms "organic", but given the other great reviews, figured it was worth a try. We arrived a bit later than we had anticipated, but Nana and Caryn were there to greet us and walk us through the building. It was easy to see how passionate they are about the concept of Topia and maintaining it's high environmental standards. Each room is unique. We chose the Zen room, which was nicely decorated, has a king size bed and a lovely bathroom fully stocked with a plethora of organic products.

In the common area of the guest house, a diverse selection of free-trade, organic teas are available 24/7. They also have a bunch of movies and books available to borrow if you are spending time in your room. In the morning, a generous breakfast was prepared for us (included in the cost of the room, of course). The food was delicious, fresh and made with local ingredients.

We really had nothing to complain about. It was a lovely weekend and I would certainly go back. This concept is obviously not for everyone. If you're not of the "green" school of thought, it's probably not for you (esp. if you want to do your own thing w/ bath and body products). The owners have high standards for their business and building. For some it may be a bit much. With that said, if you want a relaxing, environmentally friendly, unique B&B experience, you shouldn't hesitate to check it out.

“Can't wait to go back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

I highly recommend the Topia Inn in Adams, MA if you want a great get away in the Berkshires. It is an all organic bed and breakfast. They want you to leave your shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, etc at home. Bring your toothbrush, your brush and if you want your own toothpaste, bring that. And you can bring your own make up (phew). We needed a late check in, which was no problem.
Once we arrived, we had to take off our shoes, and Nina showed us around. . . . to our room, and the breakfast room.
Our room was clean, and I mean clean, like the place opened YESTERDAY, clean. The bedding is organic, the lights are LED lights. But don’t worry there is A/C and satellite TV for the flat screen! The bathroom is amazing. . . . and all the bottles of toiletries are lined up and ready to be used. Have I said how clean this place is.
The inn is heated with vegetable oil, they provide their own electricity with solar panels (with a meter in the breakfast room).
Our first breakfast with coffee (fair trade, but caffeinated) was poached pears with a mango syrup, which was totally yummy. Followed by a crustless quiche and banana bread made with apple sauce, which was also totally yummy.
Our second breakfast was a banana smoothie with mango juice and then the most amazing French toast. . . . steamed.
Everything served is certified organic, except for the produce and herbs that they grown themselves.
Each of the nine rooms have different themes, and we stayed in the French room. Two rooms have floating beds, which would be very cool to try.

“I felt and looked healthier after relaxing here for 2 days”

Disregard the review from CondeNast2. Conde employees are widely know to be called "CondeNasty". The products and food are wonderful, as well as the rooms. I recommend Topia Inn highly.

“Wonderful place close to Mass MoCA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2011

We had a wonderful stay at the Topia Inn.
We came for one weekend from Boston to visit the Mass MoCA and to hike. The museum is a 5-10 minute drive away, and the trails start at the back of the house or a 10-minute drive away from the Inn.
The stay was wonderful start to finish -- a warm welcome by the lovely owner, a beautiful room, a unique green-organic concept, & a delicious breakfast.
The entire house is designed as an organic, sustainable, allergen-free, art-inspried place, and we loved the dedication and attention to every detail: organic beds, luxurious body-care products, fair trade chocolate bars, ...!
We highly recommend the Topie Inn, especially to art- and nature-loving travellers, who would like to spend a special time in this beautiful part of the country.

“Relaxing retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2011

The Topia Inn (the Aloha room!) provided us with a much needed, relaxing getaway. We only stayed two nights, but it was revitalizing and a fun experience. We would consider ourselves to be minimally green (we try to do the best we can, but it's a very devoted lifestyle), so it was interesting to see and take part in a completely green lifestyle. I give major Kudos to the innkeepers for their hard work and dedication to this lifestyle! We stayed in the Aloha room, and are now looking into purchasing a floating bed, because the bed itself promotes relaxation--you cannot possibly be angry, intense, or anything other than relaxed and happy in that bed, and why shouldn't you have a retreat in your own home? The food was made with a lot of love and care, and was very good. Organic ingredients and clean food always taste so much better than what we put into our bodies every other day of the week. This place was IMMACULATE! I'm a neat freak, I can't even get into a shower if there is so much as a hair on the wall. I scoured the bathroom and the bedroom and couldn't find anything that made me cringe, or even any signs that anyone else had ever even stayed there...it was so clean and well cared for. We went on this trip to spend time outdoors, we biked the 22 mile Ashuwilticook trail and did some hiking on the mountains. The Berkshires is more art and outdoors oriented than anything else, so don't expect a high thrills adventure. There's not a whole lot to do, but we had a lot of fun and we would definitely recommend the Topia Inn to our friends! The town itself (and the surrounding towns) are pretty run down, the inn itself is on a semi busy road in a somewhat run down borderline shady area, so it could get kinda loud at night when the windows were open, but nothing is perfect.

Room Tip: Aloha room-hands down!
