This is a lovely property. I wish we had known when we booked the reservation that it was under construction. They were very nice at the Bell Desk and Front Desk when we checked in. My 4-year-old was thrilled to get a little gift package with coloring book and DVD's.
However, walking down West St. with him there were moments when I didn't feel very safe. I would have dismissed that except for the incident during the night. At 11:40 after we were all asleep someone knocked on our door, left to knock on other doors and came back and knocked again on ours. He identified himself as Housekeeping. We said we hadn't asked for him and he asked to come in. We were very unnerved. When we called the Front Desk to report it, they were very nonchalant and didn't even offer to send up security. We slept fitfully the rest of the night with a chair barring the door.
The next morning when we asked about the incident at the Front Desk, the women knew nothing about it and seemed rather unconcerned. Ultimately, they gave us a $22 credit for our parking, but that seemed insufficient to me. If I were ever going to say in this part of town, I would try the Westin.
