My company held their Holiday Dinner at a restaurant in Annapolis. My spouse and I did not want to drive home after enjoying the holiday cheer at the dinner, so we planned to stay in town overnight. A co-worker shared a good deal at the Historic Inns for the weekend; $79/night. The front desk is in the building right off of State Circle. That street is very narrow, especially when cars are parked on both sides. Fortunately, our car is small.
We met the friendly and helpful valet staff first. He told us where our car would be parked and how to call for it. Then in to the desk staff, where the friendliness and competence continued. We were quickly checked in. The room at the Calvert House was clean and comfortable. It was smallish, which I expected. There was free Wi-Fi and a large flat screen TV. I enjoyed the glimpse of the State House from one window. The bed was comfortable, and the room stayed a comfortable temperature.
There is no restaurant in the building where we stayed, but we were within a block of several nice restaurants. (They do have a breakfast delivery service.)
We enjoyed the history of the place. Some of the architectural features are visible, such as the heating system for a greenhouse. Artifacts uncovered during restoration were on display.
Several co-workers were staying in the hotel, and the staff graciously drove us to the restaurant in their shuttle. I can say enough about how the hotel staff made our visit enjoyable. The next time we plan a weekend in Annapolis, we will stay at the Historic Inns of Annapolis.
