“Good Price In Annapolis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

We were in Annapolis for a long football weekend and wanted an inexpensive place to stay close to the stadium. We selected this property based on the location close to the highway and the stadium (NOTE: the stadium is separate from The Naval Academy). The exterior of this property will NOT attract you to stay at this property. It consist of three two story buildings spread out over a parking lot next to the highway, but the room itself is very nice. The property cannot be viewed from Riva Road because it is behind another building, but there are directional signs.

The room we stayed in had PLENTY of space including the king bed being placed about ten feet from the door which minimizes highway and parking lot noises! I only mention the highway noise due to the fact that other travelers who have previously written reviews had concerns with it. We actually stayed in the building closest to the highway and had no problems with sleep being interrupted. A table with plenty of work space, wireless connection, a coffee maker, and a room safe provided everything these travelers needed. The soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion were available through an ecofriendly dispensers instead of tiny plastic bottles! The bedding actually appeared new and cleanliness of the room was fine!

We were given the option of a first or second floor room and selected a first floor room. We did not hear any noise from the adjoining rooms, but from the room above us we could hear every footstep. Thankfully our sleep schedules were closely matched so it did not impact us that much. They provide your typical breakfast from 6 am until 10 am; Belgium waffles, sausage gravy, assorted breads and muffins, fruit and yogurt. After observing two breakfast services I will warn you that if you arrive at breakfast anytime after 9:15 am they are already breaking it down or not replenishing the food :-)

The area where the property is located is very convenient to a large shopping area. We spent most of our time in the historical district which was a very quick trip over surface streets.

Room Tip: IF you do not mind walking up a flight of steps I would recommend getting a second floor room. Do N...

“Noisy room with a good breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

It's not cheap to stay in Annapolis but between Expedia and Best Western you can do it for less. Of course you have to give up a few things and become a bit of a commoner to stay here but us traveling fools do what we gotta do.

Room Tip: You have to walk outside to the lobby and that's where breakfast is. If the weather is dismal yo...

“Average place to stay, good value with coupon”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

My husband and I stayed one night in this hotel in early October, 2011. We were coming to Annapolis to an all-day seminar on the War of 1812 and wanted to stay close to the historical part of town. This hotel is about four miles, a quick drive, to the old historic part of Annapolis. There is plenty of free parking. It looks like there are two separate buildings. I had not stayed in a Best Western for some time so did not know what to expect. I'll admit we stayed here because we had a Roomsaver coupon for $65 per night (we stayed on a Sunday night, weekend prices would have been higher). I would not have wanted to pay more than that, but our stay was adequate. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room. The room was clean but not especially attractively decorated and the furniture was arranged oddly. There were two chairs facing the TV, side by side. I think there were only two pictures on the wall, lots of blank spaces. The curtains looked old. The TV was an older model and did not get a good picture on any station. Not many channels were offered either. The bathroom sink was in a separate room from the toilet which was fine. We got a king size bed. The room was so narrow that if you sat at the desk provided in the room with the large ergo chair (it did look comfortable) you could not get to the sink or the bathroom. The chair completely blocked the way because the bed was too large for the layout of the room, and the desk stuck out and the chair was too large. Perhaps we got this room because we had a discount; I did not go inside any of the other rooms. The hotel uses soap dispensers on the wall instead of the usual bar of soap which is OK, perhaps this saves some money. Other toiletries are provided. There is a continental breakfast served from 6am to 9am. They offer waffles, cereals, muffins, juice and the usual fare, nothing special, but a good way to start the day. The lady that checked us in was very friendly. I am always curious about pricing, and asked what the rack rate would be for this room without a coupon or discount; she said $116. I certainly would not pay that for an average room like this! Also, we were on the first floor level, which usually we like, however, the sound quality was very poor and we could hear people walking above us on the second floor and it was quite noisy. So, if you want to avoid noise, stay on the second floor. I guess the good part of our stay was that the hotel room was clean, the bed pretty comfortable and it was only a few minutes from the historical part of Annapolis and we found a fantastic diner nearby (the lady at the registration desk suggested it when we said we were looking for a good place to eat that was close). Lodging closer to old town and more attractive is probably much higher in price. Be sure to eat at the Double T Diner on Defense Street, a few minutes from the hotel! Absolutely wonderful comfort food and the most extensive menu I have seen anywhere!

Room Tip: For less noise, stay on the second floor if you do not mind carrying your luggage.

“OK Value Place to Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

The BW Annapolis is not very fancy, but if you're just looking for a clean, nice place to stay this one fits the bill! We have stayed there twice and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Internet worked OK, Can print boarding passes in the lobby.
If you don't do stairs, be sure to get a 1st floor room - no elevator - and stairs are outside.
Pool is small, but quite adequate.
Location is very convenient to shopping and restaurants. There's a major mall just across the street. It's a 20 minute or so drive to downtown Annapolis down some narrow streets, but easy to follow.
Again, a nice clean place to stay and a good value.

Room Tip: Get first floor room unless you like to haul luggage up a flight of stairs.

“Nice improvements...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

We stayed here about two years ago and only rated it as "fair". Last week, we stayed there and the place was greatly improved. The building was updated and the breakfast improved. They now serve gluten-free cereal...which is a big plus for me since my diet is restricted.
