Annapolis on a football weekend is almost impossible to do without a lot of pre-planning and the costs are very expensive if you want to stay within walking distance of anything. The Harbor View Inn is an excellent alternative to the local big hotels. Andrea and Chuck are excellent hosts. From the moment you arrive they make you feel right at home in their very lovely inn. The two smaller rooms are very comfortable, though not extremely spacious. A weekend away living out of your travel bag is about all they can accommodate. We peaked into the larger room, which looked fantastic. There, i believe, we could have stayed for an extended period.
Wine and a small snack is offered around 5:00 pm, but we were later getting back from the football game and everything was still available. It was nice sitting outside on their patio and having a glass of wine chatting with our friends who had joined us for the weekend. Later in the evening they indulged our friends with hot water for tea.
Breakfast was fantastic. One day it was a homemade granola and yogurt with pastry and the next some wonderful French toast. The inn only holds about six people and we had a wonderful time chatting at breakfast with another couple who were staying there. Andrea joined us for coffee at breakfast both days. We enjoyed talking to her and understanding more about the home and life as a B&B keeper. Most often though, they were only there when you needed them so we didn't feel they were at all overbearing.
The inn is within a couple of short blocks of all the action in Annapolis. A real plus is that they offer off-street parking so you can drive in, park and basically not move the car all weekend unless you're going out beyond just the immediate downtown area. Even then, parking will be available when you return. Given the limited availability in Annapolis, we found this to be a real plus.
Like everything during the fall, you want to make reservations early.
