I recently stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton hotel. My experience was good and bad. The front desk staff was nice, provided us with our signature cookies- which were delicious, and were courteous in explaining how to get to our room.I stayed on New Years Eve, so I figured there may be some noise throughout the hotel. I didn't know there would be numerous noises throughout the entire night. I came with 2 other couples, so we had three rooms. We were all completely spread apart from the hotel- one on one side of the hotel, another on the complete opposite end of the hotel and the thrid couple at the complete top of the hotel. We all booked together- I guess we shouldn't assume they'd put us together since we booked together and were a group of three couples.
We were in room #165. DO NOT STAY HERE- Move as far away and as far up as possible from this room!
First, to get to my room, I had to walk past a party that was in one of the reception halls- there were food buffets in the middle of the walkway, people standing all around and it was somewhat hard to get back and forth through the hall- we tried to be as courteous to the guests as possible and weave in and out through them.
Secondly, the ice machine was loud and continuously ran the entire night. I suppose people were getting ice for their drinks- unfortunately I was stuck in a room next to the machine.
Thirdly, there was another party going on below us in one of the other banquet rooms and I could hear the bass "bumping" until it ended. Again, I understand it was NYE, I just didn't expect to hear it so loudly. It seemed like the walls and floors were paper thin.
Lastly, we could hear each little noise from the next room. The neighbors were laughing all night and it literally sounded like they were sitting right in our room with us. They continued to get loud throughout the night and progressed to having sex. I could literally hear every noise they made, the moaning and groaning, the bed moving, etc. It was a noise/image that I didn't want to hear as I was lying in bed trying to get to sleep. I can handle the ice machine if I have to, but the people next to us having sex making all kinds of loud noises was just ridiculous.
The staff was courteous when checking out, it was a simple process and they gave us cookies again. They didn't ask how our stay was, so I ended up sending a comment to them from their website.
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the linens/pillows were nice. The bathroom was a good size and was clean as well. The walls and curtains seemed as if they needed to be revamped- A little bit outdated.
The hotel was in a good area and there were a lot of restaurants and shopping a hop, skip and a jump away. The parking lot was nice, with parking right out front- not too far of a walk to get to the lobby.
I would probably stay here again if I was in the area, but I'd make sure not to do it on a holiday when a bunch of parties would be going on. I'd probably ask for a room on the highest floor they have.
There is not a continental breakfast- you either have to go to one of their restaurants or order room service- min. price was $8 for some juice and a muffin.
I would most likely compare this hotel to a Super 8.
Room Tip: I would suggest any room that is on the highest floor they have and on a corner so you don't hav...
