Stayed here one night for business and it started out poor and never really got much better.
Check in - staff is friendly and smiled and helpful.
The hallways and common areas - have a distinct odor to them, like a wet funky locker room stink
The room - holycow! Got in the room and it sounded like an aircraft engine running in there but it turns out it was the air conditioner. I shut it off so I could lay down and get some rest, but as soon as I laid down on the bed the headboard fell off the wall and onto me. Yup! I'm not making this up. The headboard fell off the wall and onto me.
The room itself was dingy, dark, loud, and overall just an utter disappointment for a Doubletree Hotel.
I called front desk, after some haggling, they finally agreed to give me a new room - one without a falling headboard. New room was nicer than the first, but still just blah. The furnishings in the room like the desk, end tables, lamps - they are all nice and new. It looks nice.
The bedspread, looks like it's from 1950 though. The chair for the desk looked to be even older than that. Lime green, didn't recline at all, and just sort of nasty looking.
From 7-9pm the internet cut in and out. Essentially, making it worthless. A call to the front desk got me nowhere as they said it was just because too many people were online. Would highly recomment that they upgrade their equipment to be able to provide a strong, consistent wifi signal for EVERYONE - not just when the hotel is empty. The lack of reliable internet makes this a very poor choice to stay for a business traveler.
Breakfast was nice.
Overall, the people make this hotel barely tolerable. The actual hotel itself is in dire need of some type of makeover to get rid of the funky smell, to get a/c units that are not obnoxiously loud, to get a decor in the room that is a bit more modern.
I also thought that part of the Doubletree brand was a refridgerator and microwave in each room - there was none of that in my room.
And yes, I wrote all this out and dropped it at the front desk Tuesday and haven't heard anything. Not a peep.
Room Tip: avoid rooms on the end. x01 - it is horrible. Small, tiny, smelly, loud.
