“Comfort away from home”

From the day my son Dan became a pleb to his graduation, 4 years later this May 25th, the folks at The Gatehouse have treated my family and I like an "extended family." The surroundings, the ambiance, and the closeness to the Naval Academy can't be beat! Parking is always an issue but a 15 minute walk never killed anyone and the priceis right. I found both the mornings and the evenings with the hosts and other visting families very enjoyable and memorable.
One can only thank such gracious hosts for allowing such beauitful lodgings to be available.
"Thank you"

“Unique and charming bed and breakfast”

I recently stayed at a very charming and unique bed and breakfast located just 1 block from the gate of US Naval Academy. My son was graduating from the Academy and i had the pleasure of being in the company of 3 most generous, humorous and caring innkeepers. Nick,Jody and Cheryl are personable and cannot do enough to make your stay perfect. My fiancee and I felt like we were family from the beginning. They simply cannot do enough to make everything perfect. The charming Georgian Inn is impeccably
decorated and spotless. The food is simply delicious and their company is priceless. You must stay in this inn to experience it:
It is like no other.

“Absolutely the best place to stay in Annapolis!”

My wife, family, and I have stayed at the Gatehouse many times while visiting our son at the Naval Academy. The Gatehouse is only 1 block from USNA gate #3. It is a comfortable old Georgian house with charming decor. However, the best thing about it is the people who own and operate it: Cheryl, Jodi, and Nick. They are the friendliest,
most accommodating, most fun people we've ever met! They are extremely helpful in doing extra things to improve your stay. Examples where they've helped us include restaurant reservations, driving directions, advise on things to do, and even putting flowers and champagne in the room for me to surprise my wife on our anniversary. They really do treat you like family when you stay there...I'm not just saying that! They also make several outstanding breakfast spreads and provide some of the most entertaining conversation...we call it the Cheryl, Jodi, and Nick show. Sometimes
they even throw spontaneous cook-outs for the guests! If you have a Midshipman at USNA, they are also flexible in helping when he/she gets unexpected overnight liberty. We hope to reserve the whole place
for our extended family during my son's Commissioning Week festivities. Check out the on-line photos and reservation tool at [----].

  • Liked — The people who run it are marvelous - they treat you like family!
  • Disliked — Parking is 15 min walk to the downtown Annapolis structure - but B&B has 1/2-off coupons!

“Wouldn't go back”

My husband and I stayed at the Gatehouse Inn in February 2005. When I called the night before our stay to confirm, the InnKeeper (Nick) asked me where I was from, I told him NYC. He proceeded to tell me some inappropriate Bill Clinton/Senator Hillary/Monica L. jokes. Then laughing, he asked me if we were still planning to come. I thought it was weird but...

After driving 5 hours in the snow, when we arrived no one was there. I called their cell phone, no answer. After sitting in the car for 45 minutes in the snow, I called my cousin to come and get us. Finally Nick and his wife showed up, seemly clueless as to what had happened. My husband tells me an apology was finally offered by his wife.

The room was nice, bed comfortable. Location good. Standing over us during breakfast Nick, tried to engage us in conversation, basically so he could tell us his views of the world. Breakfast ended in some dirty joke about the Amish. His wife sat down to eat with us, and asked in the course of conversation how much we paid for our house renovation!

The woman who works for them, Cheryl (referred to as the InnKeeper's "Love Child"), was nice and the only one who bothered to say goodbye when we left. Apparently, if you are not interested in sitting there while Nick espouses while he's holding court, they don't care if you were happy or ever come back.

There any many other place to stay in Annapolis, and I would never go back.

“One of the best we've ever stayed in.”

My husband and I and friends of ours stayed at The Gatehouse in October, 2002. It was one of the nicest B&Bs we've ever stayed in. The house was immaculate and tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The breakfasts were by far some of the best we've ever had. We were treated beautifully by the owners. It was convienient to everything we wanted to see - just a short walk to all the sights and directly across the street from the Naval Academy. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone who wants to visit. I hadn't supplied a review until now because I wasn't aware of this website up until a short time ago.
