“The best stay in Annapolis, bar none”

OK, Scotlaur is kind of a unique place, and people will obviously divide on certain things, like if you find the check in at the crowded deli and the casual staff annoying or, as I, very welcoming, warm and loaded with personality. The rooms are small, the bathrooms are small, but they are charming, have a lot of character, and are suprisingly quiet, considering th location. Beds are comfortable. This is not a major amenities kind of place, and if you are looking for the Four Seasons, with cute toiletries and fluffy designer towels, you won't like it. But I have gone many times, and I always ended up wishing I could just move in. The deli food is great (the Patty Melt is the food of the gods). I love the friendly, homey atmosphere (I'd walk in the deli and one of the staff would yell "Hi, Chicago guy!" and the lack of pretension. The rooms are very clean - I have NEVER been bitten by bedbugs here as the poster below claims (though I have in places that cost four times as much). The location is ideal, and while the parking lot is cheap and close, you can leave your car there unless you want to poke around DC, as everything in Annapolis is walkable. This is not a luxury place, but it is a total delight. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Annapolis. Love this place.

Had many recognizable bed bug bites. This is the second time I have had these bites - so there was no mistaking them.

“Wonderful little place in a great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

We traveled with another couple for a quick weekend trip to Annapolis and the charming Scotlaur Inn.
I was very happy with the location on Main Street and the staff. Everyone was so friendly. Even thought we might adopt the housekeepers toddler son who loved running in when your door was opened! Adorable!
Breakfast is included (of course since it is a bed and breakfast!). There is a specific menu that you choose from but we ordered something different and no problem. We spoke to people that come from all over to eat here. Says something about a place.
I have 2 minor complaints. The biggest one is that you have to check in (and out) in the deli downstairs, which is almost always packed like sardines (also says something about the place)!
The other complaint is the towels. I was afraid to wash my face, I thought I might take a layer of skin off! Teddy, I recommend investing in some new towels, washclothes and fabric softener.
I am a travel agent so the best thing I can say is that I will recommend it to my clients if they ever decide to take a trip to Annapolis.

“Best inn in Annapolis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2010

We stayed there a few years ago, and we are just about to go back. I discovered the inn looking for a dog-friendly hotel in Annapolis, and we decided to give it a try because of its location. The rooms are not modernly furnished, but they are very clean, the staff is very friendly, and the owners very accommodating. The location is absolutely perfect, and the prices extremely reasonable. We enjoyed the inn so much that this time around we postponed our vacation for a few days just to be able to stay there again

“BEST DEAL IN THE USA....CLEAN, ON MAIN STREET, GREAT FOOD AND DRINKS, FEELS LIKE GOING HOME!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

the scotlaur is probably the best value in the usa...............not only is the price very very reasonable.............especially because it included breakfast.....when you walk in to register it is like returning home.............every one is so friendly, genuine people, KIM is incredible and cant do enough for you. meeting ted the owner is the ultimate, he just cracks me up, he should be a stand up comedian......

if you are fortunate enough to be at breakfast downstairs at the deli during the pledge of alligience it will bring tears to you eyes..........and the middies hang out there and they an added attraction to the town.

don't try other restaurants.............the deli downstairs has very high quality food, and big food too............try the crab dip and beer...........pizza is killer, steak, burgers too....mmmmm

because i was a t ravel agent for 20 years i am always looking for a good value, the scotlaur inn supercedes a good value, it is unbelievable.

the beds are soooooooooooooo comfortable.....and free wifi.......the inn is right on main street and one block to the docks. parking is in a garage one block away, and the price was $7.00 for 24 hours.

well..............we went to scotlaur inn for our 8th anniversary on july 27, 2010 and we want to go back tomorrow, august 15, 2010, cuz it is like going home.......
