“A Good Budget Stop!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

I stayed at this hotel based on the Trip Advisor reviews. It was a good stop for one minding a budget. The location provides easy access to the interstate and to the State House area. The room was clean and comfortable. The desk staff were relatively helpful, although there were no city maps available at the front desk. The shower pressure was good, but the curtain rod was loose in the wall. There was one problem that was outside of the hotel's control. There is construction in the parking lot, so I was awakened at 6:30 by the back-up alarms of construction vehicles. Once the project is finished, I doubt this will be an issue. All in all, I was not unhappy with the Super 8. I will consider it should I return to Augusta.

“the basics”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2010

How much are you going to get for $50? The rooms were clean but old and dingy. The abondoned buildings surrounding the property were unsightly. On the other hand the staff was friendly and free wireless internet. The location is close to restaurants and shopping. Good location if you're on a budget.

“Not too good, not too bad”

Recent reviews of the nearby Motel 6 made me change my mind and pick the Super 8 motel instead. It was a little bit more expensive but it appeared to be offering more quality. It does: rooms have a fridge, microwave, alarm clock, coffee maker and the beds are more confortable. Bathroom has a hairdryer and shower has a curved shower rod.

The room was clean but decor, lighting, TV, A/C and furnitures are getting old. A renovation would help this motel stand out because there are not many good low-price motels in the Augusta/Waterville area. The location is great for shopping with Turnpike Mall and Augusta Crossing nearby.

“Not as bad as it looks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2009

I was traveling with my wife and senior in-laws and booked this Super 8 online, paying before hand (I thought) to get the pre-paid online discount. Upon approaching the motel my first thought was "what have I done?" It appeared that the motel was a dilapidated building, which had a "For Sale" sign on it. However, upon turning into the drive, you soon see that the structure is tucked in behind this unsightly building, in addition to a service station positioned in front of the motel. So, the scenery is not too pleasant. However, if you only want a cheap room for a night, this place is OK. The rooms were clean, and the breakfast room and complimentary breakfast were adequate also.
My only concern was the front desk. They showed my reservation; however, did not show that it was pre-paid, through Wyndham Hotels. I protested, and was told that I would not be charged again; however, still had to sign my credit slip for the full amount. As it turned out, they did charge me, and it appears that the problem rests with Wyndham Hotels, where I'll have to take up my case.

“OK but could have done better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 May 2009

biggest complaint was lack of air conditioning, fortunately not too warm and windows open. Rooms were clean, bed fairly comfortable, quiet. Had mini-fridge and microwave. Continental breakfast not so good, better to grab coffee and food from gas station down the road. Price was very good with AAA discount (low $50's per night).
