“Great hotel with horrible beds”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011 via mobile

We stayed at this hotel for personal reasons. The hotel overall was great. The biggest and only complaint is the beds. The beds are very lumpy and extremely uncomfortable. The sheets appeared as if they were on the bed for quite some time. They smelled stale. We mentioned to the front desk clerk that the beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. His response was that they turn the mattresses often. If this hotel is 4 years old, shouldn't the mattresses have been replaced at least once?

I was very impressed with how courteous the staff was. The breakfast was not fantastic but it was ok.

Overall it's not a bad place to stay. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay.

“Fantastic Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Spent two nights at this hotel, one on the way to NYC and one on the way back. This hotel is new so it is clean and everything is perfect. The staff is very helpful and lovely. In particular Jenny and Gary that handled our luggage and helped us out with a few things. The rooms are very comfortable, the heating system works great, nice comfortable beds with four big fluffy pillows, plenty of towels in the bathroom, fridge in the room and a nice new tv with lots of channels. The continental breakfast was great with lots of choices. Didn't get to try out the pool or hot tub but they looked great also.

Overall, it was a great stay, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Great staff, pleasant stay - as you'd expect from Marriott”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Marriott is one of those brands that generally you don't go wrong with; and this was certainly the case at their Augusta, Maine location. Augusta isn't really much of a tourist location and we were there on business for 2 weeks. The property is relatively new, well furnished, and well kept up.

The front desk staff was always pleasant, always helpful. Housekeeping was equally pleasant and efficient (something you notice when at a property for 2 weeks). The rooms were always cleaned well and the bathrooms well stocked.

Wireless was speedy and I never had a problem; the office center also provided free printing, faxing. The only problem there is that the computer was loaded only with an older version of Word, so you need to remember to save your documents in a compatible format if you're going downstairs to print.

Morning breakfast was the typical -- microwave sausage/egg biscuits, fruit, breads, pastries, waffles. Entirely satisfactory, although tiresome after several weeks (but fine for the typical traveler).

Nearby is a regional pub and several quick food restaurants. If you travel into Hallowell there is the Liberal Cup -- an extraordinary microbrewery that really does deserve to be frequented. If you're traveling 17 to Togus (the VA hospital), there is a wonderful restaurant, Rebecca's, that also deserves to be visited.

“Immaculate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

I stayed here 2 nights on Marriott Rewards points to attend a family wedding. This appears to be a very new property and is in immaculate condition. Rooms are decent, beds are very comfortable and better than a lot of Marriott full service hotels I have stayed in. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, the small fitness center had a decent treadmill and other equipment. I did not have high expectations for Augusta, ME but this was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend this hotel for business or families. Breakfast was ok, but I don't expect a lot from a Fairfield in that department.

“Great spot, great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

We stayed the first and last nights on our White Mountain vacation and were very pleased with the great service, cleanliness and comfort. The only minimal draw back was the small size of the room, although admittedly with a king size bed.

Thanks for 2 great stays.
