Marriott is one of those brands that generally you don't go wrong with; and this was certainly the case at their Augusta, Maine location. Augusta isn't really much of a tourist location and we were there on business for 2 weeks. The property is relatively new, well furnished, and well kept up.
The front desk staff was always pleasant, always helpful. Housekeeping was equally pleasant and efficient (something you notice when at a property for 2 weeks). The rooms were always cleaned well and the bathrooms well stocked.
Wireless was speedy and I never had a problem; the office center also provided free printing, faxing. The only problem there is that the computer was loaded only with an older version of Word, so you need to remember to save your documents in a compatible format if you're going downstairs to print.
Morning breakfast was the typical -- microwave sausage/egg biscuits, fruit, breads, pastries, waffles. Entirely satisfactory, although tiresome after several weeks (but fine for the typical traveler).
Nearby is a regional pub and several quick food restaurants. If you travel into Hallowell there is the Liberal Cup -- an extraordinary microbrewery that really does deserve to be frequented. If you're traveling 17 to Togus (the VA hospital), there is a wonderful restaurant, Rebecca's, that also deserves to be visited.
