“Overpriced for L-A area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I have stayed here at the "Riverwatch" Hilton on several occasions. This hotel is nice enough, but it is so over-priced for the area! Don't let the "view of the falls" fool you - it is not such a pretty site with the ugly, deserted mill buildings nearby (sad reminder that so many of our jobs have gone off-shore...). Not many choices for "decent" hotels here in Lewiston-Auburn, so be prepared to pay the price to stay here at the Hilton. The cost of your stay doesn't include breakfast. Too bad. Breakfast included would help sweeten the deal; it wouldn't feel so bad when opening your wallet at the front desk. I suppose that this is a good place for those on business trips, but if you're looking to stay here as a "treat" as part of a vacation or a long weekend, it'll take a bite out of your budget.

I would like to thank you for your frequent patronage at the Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch! We appreciate your positive feedback regarding our facility. I am sorry that you were not able to take advantage of some of the wonderful room packages. We offer many of which include our full breakfast. They are really a great value! There is nothing better than an omlette to start off your day.

I can certainly understand your misconception of our area! Like many early industrial areas in New England, our cities are steeped with a rich culture which should be celebrated. The area has enjoyed healthy economic development even in a down economy and has attracted several top companies that continue to grow and do business in the area. The perfect example is Carbonite who has relocated its call center from an overseas location to a new facility in Lewiston providing many jobs in the area.

Efforts are focused on the downtown area and we enjoy positive growth culturally. Our region is filled with many wonderful local restaurants, museums, cultural stops such as Museum L/A, the Franco American Heritage Center, the Community Little Theather, and even architectural masterpieces including the Basilica. We consider ourselves lucky to be located in area that is exhibiting positive change. Our location next to such a wonderful body of water in which one can kayak or go fishing or even take a walk along the recently constructed riverwalk is fabulous.

Thank you again for your feedback. I hope you will contact me directly upon your next visit to our area. It would be my pleasure to review some of our package options that will work with your budget and allow you to enjoy a relaxing, enjoyable stay!

Hospitably,
Scott McKenney

“Best experience ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

This was our 2nd experience at the Hilton. Most recently, we (along with other family members) stayed at the hotel due to a death in the family. We could not have asked for better service; the front desk staff, housekeeping, maintenance, the restaurant staff and Scott, the Manager; went out of their way to make us comfortable. Everyone was extremely pleasant and friendly. The rooms are most comfortable and quiet. The American Grill has great food; breakfast, lunch and dinner. And, the "home baked" cookies daily at 5 pm were a wonderful treat. We will be guests at the Hilton again in the future and will always recommend the Hilton as the BEST place to stay in Auburn.

“Beautiful View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

Nice Hotel if you plan to shop. Not far from BANGOR about 1hour and a half and only like 45 min from Augusta. and about 45 min from Freeport and 1 hour from Portland . the room was modern and big. The beds have an adjuster on the side if you want to change how soft or hard it is. The Breakfast is $4.95 for cold buffet or $10.95 for hot. just enough out the way not to be realy busy . but close enough to get to everything.

“Great Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

A family member died and we needed someplace to stay before the memorial service. We decided on the Hilton in Auburn. My daughter and family were also staying at the same location. When I made the reservation, I requested ajoining rooms. When we checked in, they had us across the hall from each other, the receptionist tried to comply with the request. We left for our room expecting when my daughter checked in her family would be in the next room. About an hour later, my daughter checked in and we found that we were still across the hall from each other. I called the desk and the receptionist at the time said she would change us right away...and she did. The staff was so helpful and responsive to our request. They brought us new room keys and we made the move. Both of our rooms overlooked the falls that were very full from the previous weekend snow storm melt (our first room had a better view, while our daughter's original room looked over the parking lot). The rooms were very clean and comfortable. If we ever come back through Auburn, I would not hesitate to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn again.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view from 4th or 5th floor.
