Let me begin by saying that I have read many reviews of travelers who were just to tired to leave a hotel when it was not up to their expectations....I now understand completely how they were feeling! We checked in to this place because it was the ONLY hotel in Arcadia and the ONLY hotel that was close to the small town we were visiting the next morning, and we had been up since 4 A.M. and simply couldn't go any further!!
Okay, upon entering the room, it looked modern with nice furniture and colorful bedding...then we looked closer! The floor ( linoleum ) was so dirty that the wash cloth I used was a lovely shade of chocolate brown. The baseboards in the bathroom had obviously never been cleaned, the toilet still had urine drops on it from a previous guest ( it even had urine on the tank lid...seriously- someone had really bad aiming skills!!} The bed spreads on both beds were so stained that we took them off the beds ( super nasty ) and the blankets smelled so awful that we turned the heat up in the room and just used the top sheet to cover up with! The sheets were clean thank God! We had to wipe off the desk and the tops of the TV cabinet and night stand because someone had just sprayed something on them and gave it a half hearted wipe down. We always have chlorox wipes in our truck so we wiped down the desk and chair and the wipes were black from the filth! We only had 2 wash cloths and 2 towels in the bathroom. We decided to stand on one towel and actually share the other one so we didn't have to touch the floor after showering...one of the towels had a size 11+ black foot print on it...I kid you not! It was hanging up as a clean towel!!
The only positive thing I can say about this place is that the bed was comfortable, ( the pillows were old and lumpy ) and we slept okay...probably because we were exhausted more than any other reason!
Upon check out I was asked how everything was and I told her the truth about the condition of the room. I have to say she didn't act shocked but did say she would address the situation. The next time we have to be in the area, we will go on to Ruston and stay even though it makes for a much further drive!
