The rooms really are a lovely as they appear in the photos on the website. We stayed in the Sweetheart room, one of two in the Carriage House, but no one was in the other room, so we had total privacy. We strolled along the bayou at the back of the property and took photos of the ducks swimming among the lily pads and of the ever-so-superior goats in the pen next-door. The Sweetheart room includes a kitchen area, with dishes and glasses in a china cabinet, a small table and chairs, a fridge and microwave, and sink; a sitting area with loveseat and end tables; and a jacuzzi tub as well as shower. True, the television is a small, older model that can really only be watched from the loveseat -- but who goes on a romantic weekend to watch t.v.? Now for the negatives -- there was no one in the office when we arrived. In fact, it was locked. My husband waited there while I drove over to the cottages (they are across the road) to see if maybe someone was over there, but no. After waiting another a few minutes, I called the number on our reservation. Susan answered and explained that she had been called away suddenly, but had left the keys in the interior door. I understand why she wouldn't want to put that in a note, but there was nothing indicating we should call her or even that she knew we were coming. As the other reviewers mentioned, the "breakfast" leaves much to be desired. We found two biscuits and two muffins under a glass dome when we arrived, so that by the time we ate them the next morning, they were at least a day old. There were small packets of jelly and jam in the fridge, but no butter. The packets of instant grits, instant oats, and instant cocoa are too much like what we eat at home to be really thrilling. We still might have had the oats, except that they were the faux-fruit-and-cream type; plain or cinnamon/sugar would be a better choice. The only creamer was powdered. At check, something was said about the "full-breakfast option," but there's nothing about it on their website.
