Walking down the first floor hallway, I was taken aback by the overpowering smell of air freshener, no doubt hiding something. It was 100 degrees outside when I checked in and while the evening sun was glaring into the room, the AC was running full bore and the room was comfortable. But, on any setting other than the coldest, the unit cycled between off, low (quiet) and high (jet engine). If the noise level had been constant it would have been easier to get used to. Finally, in the middle of the night I gave up and set the unit to 60 so that it would run continuously. As other reviewers have noted, this is an older property. It's within a few miles drive from a number of restaurants but not within walking distance of any (there is a gas station/C-store across a four lane highway). The check-in and check-out process were fine and breakfast was OK, but not enough to overcome the age of the property. Spend a little bit extra and stay somewhere else.

I found the hotel to be way over priced. It is a very old hotel. There was not much to the breakfast and don't even try to use the computer in the lobby. I believe it was the stall's children that were always on the computer. Also, there are guest who live there at the hotel. The shower curtain did not cover the shower and the floor gets soaking wet when you take a shower and there was very little hot water. One positive note was the maintenance staff. We had a clogged toilet that was fixed immediately after reporting it. If you pay more than $40-50 dollars a night, you are getting ripped off.

My room was on the 3rd floor, and yes there still lingers a musty smell to the hotel, although at the time of my stay they were replacing all of the hotel's carpet. I assume this will help eliminate the lingering odors. I must note that although you can discern the smell when you first walk into the hotel, you will not notice it after a minute or two. At least I did not.

The staff on duty for my stay were all high school or college grade students. This could be somewhat troubling to some, but I will say everyone I interacted with was pleasant and knowledgeable.

The wi-fi access in the room is on average for the typical hotel offering. I had no issues with accessing the network or any drop signals while online.

The breakfast offering is what one would normally get at a Comfort Inn, boiled eggs, waffle, cereals, and assorted pastries. All were well stocked and maintained.

Overall I would say may stay was average to above average.

We were down in Lousiana to help with Hurricane Gustav. We stayed here for about 10 days. Our clothes rack was pulled out of the wall when we got there and we told the front desk about it and the maintance man came with-in 5 minutes and fixed it.
Miss Margie (the breakfast lady) was very nice and always talked to us. All the staff were nice to us. Our room was always clean and we didn't have any complaints.
If another hurricane comes Lousiana's way I'm sure we will stay here again.
