“NASTY”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

TO whom this may concern. I was in town for a 3DAY meeting. The very first room we walked into was ok till we looked in the BATHROOM the floor had black mud and the seat had a red blood like stain, went to the front desk they kindly gave us another room 4 doors down. We walked in, It looked fine and then we entered the bathroom the shower had brown crap on the shower wall. I wiped it and took it to the front desk and left it there and refused to stay. I left the hotel with no place to sleep (Myself, daughter, grandchild) But I would sleep in my car before staying there, then and ever.

“Black Mold”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Me, my wife and 2 year old stayed here because the hospital gave us a voucher for $50 a night because my mother was in the ICU and they didnt have hospice rooms. At first everything seemd ok. The few staff on hand seemed nice enough. There was a slight odor once in the room, but we though for the price it wasnt too bad. Later we noticed the bottom of our socks were becoming black. After 3 days in the room we found black mold all behind the curtain and on the carpet. My sister was staying in the room next to us and we had her look also. Her room had the same problem, but not as bad. We check out right then and checked into another hotel. All 3 of us suffered sinus problems for almost a week after checking out. We filled out a complaint and called the health department. I hope they get this problem fixed before some one gets real sick from this. I added a couple pictures to show. The black on the carpet is all mold. The black on the wall is mold. The mold was all around the window, and on the carpet around the window. It looked like no one has ever cleaned behind the curtain.

Room Tip: Find another hotel.

“Emergency Stop”

My wife and I were traveling from Mississippi to Texas while stopping in Alexandria for a restroom break after hours of being on the road. My wife is disabled and requires a "family facility" to take care of her personal business. We stopped at several locations and had no luck finding the appropriate facility. The situation became extremely urgent if you know what I mean. Fortunately, we happened to come across the Alexander Fulton Hotel. I ran inside and explained the situation to the ladies at the front desk (Urshla & Sharon) and even though we were not guests of the hotel, Urshla & Sharon immediately gave us a key with direct access to a hotel room with private facilities to relieve our "urgent" business at hand. I have to say the customer service that Urshla & Sharon gave us was as if we were VIP guests of the hotel. If they are willing to give that kind of service to non guests, imagine what they do for their registered guests. We highly recommend staying at this hotel. The lobby was huge and impressive and the room we used was very clean. Not to mention the kindness and professionalism Urshla & Sharon showed us.Thank You, Tristian and Sherri Nichols, Dallas TX

“Really, It's NOT all that BAD! I don't know what they're talking about!”

So seriously.. This hotel isn't brand new, and there were a few smidges that needed attention durning my extended stay, but nothing that wasn't taken care of right away. The hotel is way clean, it is a bit worn, but it's clean. BOTH elevators work. Room had fridge, microwave, flat screen TV (with Showtime or some movie channel for free). Staff was all very friendly. I really was very hesitant to step foot in here after all the reviews, but I decided to try it, and I'm glad I did. I'll definatly be back if ever I'm in the Alexandria area again!

“We would definitly go back.”

We chose to stay at the Alexander Fulton inspite of the bad Trip Advisor reviews because it was within walking distance to the hospital. I am so glad we did not listen to the reviews! Upon arriving the staff was very friendly and courteous. We did not check in until well after midnight and everything was ready for us. The room was a nice size - not the small rooms that you sometimes get in the newer hotels. The room was clean, the two double beds were very comfortable. We had a microwave, fridge and the tv was a flat screen. The bathroom had plenty of towels and all the essentials that you might need if you may have forgotten something. The hotel is older but has so much character. The lobby is very large with really comfortable living room type chairs. Cleanliness and friendliness are the two things that stood out the most. I would recommend this hotel to those of you looking for a nice place to stay while visiting loved ones in the hospital. They allowed us to use the fax machine as well as the computer in the lobby office. Also, if you have a loved one in the hospital the room is discounted and VERY reasonable. I would like to thank Danielle, Jarrod, Ursala and Sharon at the front desk and Tamira in housekeeping for making a difficult trip very pleasant.
Thank you,
Dot Loutzenhiser
