“Breakfast was the best thing about this place.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2011

OK, so it has a nice-looking, albeit small, pool on the inside, as well as a jacuzzi. This does me absolutely no good when it is full of massively overweight people and their kids. The weight issue is not the fault of the hotel's, however, 6 kids in the jacuzzi with blow up flotation toys should not be allowed. It was also quite cold in the "atrium" where the aquatics were. Perhaps it would be better to go in the summer, when the outdoor pool is functioning-can't speak to that. The room was on the ground floor. It was OK/average. The bed was large and not too stiff or soft, there were marks on the wall showing where things used to hang. The plumbing was an issue. The faucet in the sink was utterly distressing. The hot and cold was mixed up, or something, I couldn't find the correct setting to get hot water in the sink and I twisted that handle from one to twelve o clock, as it had not a stop. Same with the shower, hot and cold were indetermined by which direction the handle was turned. It was a room that could use some updating to be sure, but, what do you want out of a Best Western in Alexandria?
The breakfast was pretty OK. There was a woman on duty was quite scary and surly to those entering the area, also served in the atrium, however, upon reassurance that we did, in fact, belong there, became quite pleasant. Breakfast choices included pieces of fresh fruit, fruit salad (probably from a can), dry cereal, bread assortment/bagels, and hot food made to order including breakfast burrito, eggs, grits, biscuit and gravy, pancakes, waffles, ham, sausage, and of course coffee and watered down assorted juices. It is worthwhile to pay breakfast a visit before leaving. Can't say I'd recommend this hotel, though, as it seems to have an infestation of sparrows that flock and nest in the gutters around the hotel, and wake up very early in the morning to sound the day in. For all the good that the black-out curtains and quiet fan can do to ensure peace and quiet overnight, these birds quickly undo to the tune of 6:30am. I'd have rather slept another hour, as it was the weekend.

“Great Hotel for Conferences and Group Events”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2010

Our family chose the Best Western Inn-Suites in Alexandria as the headquarters for our family reunion several weeks ago. The hotel is ideally located next door to a restaurant and a family diner and shopping areas are a short drive away. We had a lovely stay. The rooms were clean and attractive, and importantly the air-conditioners worked well and didn't leave our rooms smelly musty or moldy, which is important in Louisiana during the summer. We started planning our stay with Best Western in late December and so there were no surprises when got there in July. Also, I flew in from the Northeast in April to inspect the property and look at the meeting rooms. I will say that the hotel does a very good job of accommodating mid-size to large groups. (I noticed several conventions and large groups, from Baptist associations to baseball teams, using the property when I was there in April and in July.) The sales manager answered my emails and returned telephone calls promptly and, importantly, she (Lori) understood the hospitality industry & how to do business: the customer is always right, even when they're wrong. She was accommodating, infinitely patient, and helpful. And, when we met in person, I found her very friendly and easy to work with. She and I used her office, as well as the meeting room that our family would use, to test the projector for the slide show . Likewise, the caterer for our event was equally accommodating and courteous; one family member had special dining needs and was accommodated as she requested: by having her dinner sent to her room early. His assistant also phoned me to confirm the menu for the banquet a week in advance, and on the night of the banquet, she moved between our event and a large wedding party held in the ballroom elsewhere on the property. Also, the housekeeping staff was very friendly and helpful. They went through the garbage to locate "meds" that were tossed away accidentally, and the manager in Housekeeping located my Mac power cord which I'd left behind and didn't realize until 5 days later. Importantly, our family enjoyed their stay. When we were not engaged in activity or in our rooms, older family members used the atrium as a central meeting place, others of us headed to the exercise room, and the children and college-aged kids enjoyed the swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) and hot tub. There was something for everyone. If our family holds another reunion in Alexandria, Louisiana, we will certainly return to the Best Western Inn-Suites and Conference Center.

“Don't stay at this Best Western”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2010

Moving to Fl from Las Vegas had to stay in Alexandria one night and chose this hotel for the fair rate; when we got to the room, going thru the dirty & stinking corridors, there was a naked guy in the assigned room. went back to the lobby, cancelled the reservation & were out of there as quick as we could.

“Worst Hotel in 25 years of federal service.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2009

Having traveled for the US Govt for over 25 years, this is, BAR NONE, the worst room I've ever had. Maybe it was the "cheap govt rate" room but absolutely horrible. Best Western should remove this hotel from their registry. Don't be fooled by the AAA rating sign in the lobby - it wasn't based on the room I had. STAY AWAY!

“Decent for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2009

We spent one night - room was clean and quiet. We had our dog with us so choices are limited. For the price ($80) it was fine. The TV did not work, but the janitor responded quickly, reprogrammed the TV, and explained the problem. We received good information on where to eat.
