“Clean, protected and convenient”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Hotel Milan is a modestly priced hotel with a convenient location. Taxi transport to the Tocumen airport runs $25 from there and $5.00 to Allbrook. Staff is bilingual. No outside guests are allowed up to the rooms. There is a restaurant with good food at reasonable prices next to the lobby. Meals for $7-8.00. They do serve alcohol. A great Rey supermarket is a 10 minute walk away. Beds are comfortable, and all rooms come with desk, table and chairs, as well as a very comfortable couch..and of course TV...in English. Rooms are airconditioned. There is free internet in the lobby (one)

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of the building are a bit warmer, and there is slight street noise

“Affordable Convenience in Panama”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Staying at the Hotel Milan is an international experience. The staff is friendly and always efficient. If you have business or pleasure in Panama and need a clean comfortable room to sleep with good internet access this is the place to stay. It is easy walking from here to the banking center and lots of restaurants in the El Congrejo area.

A new addition with larger rooms will be opening later this year. But the off-street free parking is a real plus for this affordable hotel.

Room Tip: Internet is available in the lobby if you do not bring your own computer. Adjoining restaurant is NO...

“Terrible customer service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I stayed at Hotel Milan twice in one week, at both ends of my journey to Bocas Del Toro. The first time was ok thanks to the lovely Ana, who clearly understands that a warm smile and a helpful attitude makes all the difference in the world. Unfortunately Ana was not there for my second stay.

The Good - it is clean, CHEAP and in a relatively safe area (except for the hookers at the end of the street and the sleazebags who pick them up), close to everything. The salon across the street is family owned and full of characters. They're lovely. Also, there is a computer in the lobby of the hotel, with free internet. I must say the rooms are immaculate. Not a bug in sight. Also, I like that they include a bottle of water

The Not so Good - There are no lamps in the room, no alarm clock, a weird 'no irons' policy that dates back several years. Toiletries are just ok.

The Terrible - Service by all those staff not named Ana. Honestly, I don't know where these people went to school, but for some reason they seem to think it's ok to be unhelpful, unfriendly and unsmiling to guests. It's a HOTEL. Even a smile goes a long way. They act as if they are being made to scrub toilets with toothbrushes. I worked in the tourism industry for many years. You can offer a quality product, experience or accommodation, but if your service is lacking, if your staff are not understanding, not smiling, not helpful and not kind, your customers will go elsewhere..it does not matter if you have the cheapest rate out there. I would rather pay $100 more per night and stay where I feel welcome.

“Clean, friendly & affordable hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

This hotel was our base for our travels throughout Panama. We initially planned to stay for two nights, but added an extra day at the beginning of out stay and two at the end of out trip. While the hotel is no frills (no pool, lounge etc) it is clean, well maintained and relatively modern. Rooms are spacious with a double bed which was not the most comfortable, but not the worst we experienced either. They do have suites with a king size bed, large tub and bar area which they do not pre-book but you can request and if available upgrade to when you arrive. We did on out last two nights and enjoyed the extra space. There is quiet airconditioning in the rooms, TV. alarm clock, phone etc. We stayed on front and back side of the hotel and the rooms are quiet.

The staff do not speak or really understand english, but they were more than patient with my less that impressive attempts to speak spanish and everything worked out. The even called to make dinner reservations for us. The bonus, the day manager, Ana, is around for the better part of the day, is fluent in english, and extreme;y helpful.

The hotel is centrally located in the banking district, among a number of other hotels. It is waking distance to a number of restaurants and located in an area where you can go out for a walk at night. Secure parking availalble. as is Wifi and an internet computer in the lobby.

It is very easy to get anywhere in Panama City from this locations and it never cost us more than $5 to take a taxi anywhere we wanted to go, Casco Viejo, the ruines, Metro park (highly recommended), Metro Mall (high end shopping), Albrook mall, etc.

Police are everywhere, all the time in Panama and safety was never a concern. We ate dinner at Manolos's cafeteria, La Posta, & Las Tinajas, all within waking distance. We receommed them all.

There is small restaurant on the main floor which serves up a decent breakfast. The hotel is expaning to include the attached building and more rooms will be available soon.

Room Tip: There is nice view from the front of the hotel and nothing at the back, so if that matters to you, r...
