“ugh i wish i could get those 3 days back”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2010

this place was actualy reviewing in our Fodors guide, and i'll be writing them a stern email when i'm done with this. The location is fine, but the rooms havent been updated since perhaps 1968, which automatically makes it feel kind of scummy. We were there 3 mights and i have a multitude of complaints. First of all, if you take one of the taxis that waits out front, you will get charged probably double what you would on the streets, which is absurd. The hotel has posted rates that are way too high, so just go outside and flag someone down to save money-there are cabs everywhere. Second, the included buffet breakfast is disgusting. The fruit is bland, the eggs taste like they're made of powder and are rubbery, the bacon is also rubbery, the french toast should be ashamed of itself. Basically everything was terrible, including the service-they wouldn't allow us to sit at the bar and watch the soccer game while we ate, even though they do serve breakfast in the bar. Why? They had no reason. Also the "business center" which was supposed to include free internet closes at 5pm-i'm pretty sure business doesnt conclude at that time. Whats worse is that i went there at 11am when it was supposed to be open to find it locked. The most annoying thing occured upon check out. I had booked it at a rate of $90 a night, and when i tried to check out they tried to charge me $130 a night. While she was looking a the paperwork, i noticed they had put my charges down at $130 a night, and had written it on the paperwork, AFTER i had signed it, even though i gave them my confirmation of $90 a night i had printed out when i checked in. When i checked out, the still had that confirmation form, and yet still tried to charge me $130 a night. I threw a fit and paid the $90, but this on top of everything else was attrocious. Stay elsewhere, and pay another $50 a night if neccesary, it'll be worth the pain that this hotel will put you through.

“Best value in Panama City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2010

My stay at the Executive Hotel was a very good one. The rooms I would say are on par with a Holiday Inn or Days Inn, not the Ritz but definitely comfortable enough that you wouldn't mind staying in the for a week or more. What separates this hotel from others in the area is the level of service. Everyone who I have encountered during my stay there were extremely courteous and helpful, also a large percentage of the staff do speak English so it was no problem for me the interact with them ( and I speak absolutely no Spanish at all). The gem of the Executive Hotel is the restaurant on the first level, I've been to many place in Panama City and have yet to find another place with a better breakfast/brunch, which you can get 24 hours a day. Although do beware on Sunday mornings there can be an hour wait or more, its sort of a local delicacies.

In closing... rooms- B, service- A, food- A++
If I ever go back to Panama City the Executive Hotel is first on my list when trying to find a room!

“I cancelled my reservation in advance by phone.. And they billed me anyway!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2010

I have made a reservation there, but they only had 2 nights available out of the 3, I needed. Finally, I booked a package with AA; RT and 3 nights on May 25th with another hotel. I called Hotel Executive to cancell my reservation for June 4th, way in advance their 24H cancellation policy. I asked for a confirmation number and email to acknowledge the cancellation. They said do not worry your reservation is cancelled! I found out today June 9th that THEY BILLED ME REGARDLESS...
Maybe it is just an error or omission, but it is the wrong attitude, wrong customer service.

“Tired but good location and has everything you need”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 March 2010

We needed to overnight in Panama City in order to catch a flight to David. We picked the Executive Hotel because all of the other hotels were very expensive during the week and this hotel is well located. The hotel itself is tired, old and spartan but it did have all of the amenties that you need including a refrigerator, breakfast, a safe in the room and wi-fi. The hotel is walking distance to shops and restaurants and across the street from the Bristol Panama. We highly recommend the restaurant, Las Tinajas which was recommended in Frommers and is a 2 block walk from the hotel.

“Acceptable hotel due to outrageous rates in Panama”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2009

I stayed in this property for two nights and I have to say that is an acceptable hotel for business trips. It is located close to Via España which is a good idea, you can find many useful places nearby. However, the hotel itself is old, service is poor, food is less than acceptable, room was old, uncomfortable and a bit smelly. It was a good thing to have the wired internet service included in my rate (breakfast was also included but I have nothing positive to say about it; it was the same thing every morning and tasted terrible, except the fruit). while checking out the hotel was charging me a higher rate than the one secured by my company so I had to open an email where the rate was confirmed and still they did not want to accept it. It took some arguing before they say ok. I have noticed other postings mentioning issues of overcharging when checking out. Better to be aware. They also need to have a gym.
Why did I stay in this hotel? Because the hotels rates in Panama are outrageous and unreasonable and they exceed the company's rate.
