My husband and I stayed at The Sheraton Panama one night on our arrival in Panama City, it is one of two Sheratons in the city, this being the lesser known,(the other one is The Four Points) our taxi drivers on two occasions almost took us to the other hotel, had I not specified "Not Four Points"
The initial impression was a good one lobby is spacious and attractive, front desk staff are amazingly helpful and friendly, kudos to Horacio and to Denisse, who when we inquired about a restaurant we had been to before, which she did not know, she looked it up for us, made dinner reservations, and wrote instructions on a piece of paper for us to give the taxi driver. Juan from Bocas was also a super friendly porter who had lots of tips for us on the city. All spoke great English.
We stayed in a standard room on an upper floor that had a partial view of the ocean. Maybe this room had already been renovated, because we saw no evidence of the wear mentioned by other reviewers, in fact we had just stayed in a Sheraton in Canada before our trip and the room was almost identical. Beds were comfortable, noise level was low, though we did not have an adjoining room door, cleanliness was good.
Only negative, we were charged for something that we did not have, on our quick check out invoice and when we questioned about this when leaving, it was quickly rectified, I honestly think it was a mistake, and not an intent to rip us off. Still it's always good to carefully check those sheets of paper that come under your door in the middle of the night.
