Described as a high design boutique hotel by tablethotels.com, I probably set my expectations too high.
The hotel interior is mostly black, which makes the dirt stand out clearly on the walls, floors and in the elevator. Kind of nasty. Rooms were clean but had a smell of mold. The 'interior garden' with plastic grass and plants behind a glass wall is really not worth the name.
Music from the downstairs disco could be heard loud and clear while trying to get some sleep after a long trip. Breakfast was ok, it was served in the 'disco/lounge' downstairs: a very dark space with the airconditioning set high, it felt like a bad hangover.
On the plus side, staff was always very friendly.
Wouldn't stay here again even if rooms were half the price.

We stayed at the Manrey for 3 nights prior to a Windstar cruise. The hotel is a little upscale in appearances, but seems to pride itself with is expansive bars in the lobby and on the 4th floor pool area. At no time was our stay crowded or noisy as other travelers have posted.
There is an ATM on the first floor that spits out US $. The room we had was not on the street side of the hotel so we heard no street noise whatsoever. The room safe was not bolted to the cabinet, it could easily have been lifted off an thrown out the window.

Breakfast was a highlight with endless cappuccino, cheese omelets and meats and cheeses. I actually looked forward to this each morning.

We ate in the lobby bar the first night and enjoyed the wood fired pizza. Gauchos is directly across the street and should not be missed if you are here for even one night, it is a fantastic steak house.

The pool bar area is scenic, and colourful especially at night. Yesterday we watched a window cleaner on the Towerbank get rescued by the fire department becasue his rope became stuck. The hotel arranged for the local newspaper to come over and take a copy of my photographs for the morning paper.

The positives outweigh the negatives. The pluses. It is in a great location. There are many upscale and inexpensive restaurants in walking distance. If you take a taxi, almost anything in the city is under $10.00 to get to. Two blocks away there is a little 'tienda' for snacks and drinks which was interesting to go into. Another block and you were at a very large supermarket. The staff at the hotel was great. We were upgraded to a large room for free because our room was not ready when we arrived. It was a very nice clean room with a king bed. I caught up on my sleep everyday because the bed was incredible. The pool area was also very well kept. It had some great views of the city and the surrounding construction. The breakfast buffet was more than we expected. It had fresh fruit, fresh juices, a couple meats and cheeses, various breads, and eggs upon request (all gratis). We did not eat in their restaurant for any meals, but the burgers we had by the pool for lunch one day were very good. The negatives. The room could have used some better lighting in the bathroom area. It also could of had another chair and maybe a coffee table in it. If you want to sun yourself by the pool on one of the beds they had, you needed to move it to a sunny area (the bar tender helped us with this.) We wanted a later check out, but could only get an extra hour. They were having an event at the hotel that night and only have 36 rooms. We will consider a return to the Manrey next year. It is a little too chic for me, but I overcame that after a day or two.

Excellent stay for a certain type of person, aka trendy party oriented people. The breakfast buffet was great. Was treated excellent by everyone. Nice room. The only reason I give four stars is because we unfortunately had things stolen from our room, a pair of earings that I treasured and expensive sunglasses. So I recommend the hotel but beware of your valuables!
